So lets talk some legit options for our pick.

So with Breeland coming back that pretty much leaves us open to take the best player on the board.

I'd like in this thread to post some videos and such since in a lot of threads there are questions about how good a guy is and what he can do so twitter and youtube of course are great for vids.

Even though I've pined for Willie Gay quite a bit there are numerous other guys I'd be fine with using our pick on because well they'd be fine fits.

So I'll start with some Willie Gay video since I've been asked a few times what he's good at...

I agree. Both Dantzler and Arnette are faster on the field than their 40 times. Dantzler looked like he didn't know how to start his 40..he looked faster and smoother at the end. Same as Arnette.

But with that said I am not accepting he's faster than 4.4, he's probably a 4.55 or so. Arnette is probably a 4.45 if he does his properly.

Think the key is to find someone who can help next year and will start the
3 years after that at the position. To many busts to gamble a lot. Not high on a RB but if you get the top back on the board, you should not have to worry about Damien wanting paid in 2021.

But I do not think they are looking at a RB with the signing of Washington. So would be shocked if that is the direction they head. OL, WR CB and LB seem to be deep draft positions and a need.

I would be ok with this.
It’s almost to the point where I think we have to draft a LB in the first 2 picks. I doubt one of the top guys is there at the end of rd 3.

We don’t have anyone to replace Ragland and it was our biggest problem area by far last year.

I strongly disagree. There’s value well into the 4th round at LB this year. It’s a very underrated group.

Corner is where it drops off a ton after round 2.

It’s possible that a Jordan Brooks falls to rd 3, but I’m not seeing a starter available in rd 4.

Watch the first Texans game, Packers game and Super Bowl. Teams knew our LB’s were a problem and exploited the hell out of it.

I expect teams to copy that moving forward.

There’s also:

Logan Wilson
Troy Dye
Akeem Davis-Gaither
Davion Taylor
Justin Strnad
Markus Bailey

Half of those guys will probably go in the 3rd, while the other half goes on day 3. Every single one is better in coverage than any LB we had playing in 2019.

And I’m well aware that a coverage LB is a huge need along with everybody else on here, so I don’t need to rewatch those games to understand that.

I would be really surprised if Jordyn Brooks is there for us in the second, let alone the third. There is starting to be a lot of smoke that many teams have him in the 20-50 range. I’ve actually seen multiple sources saying that some teams have him as the #2 ILB on their board ahead of Murray or Queen. Many draft pundits have been inching him up their boards too.

As Staylor pointed out though (I agree with him on this), there are quite a few other LBs including Wilson, Dye, Davis-Gaither, and Taylor that I really like that we could have a shot at in the 3rd or 4th.

Peter La Canfora: Potential surprising prospects who could be picked round 1

Take this one with a grain of salt (it’s his agent), but I’ve seen similar tweets/sentiment elsewhere:

That’s interesting, but due to a very deep/talented class combined with the situation COVD has caused, it’s so hard to know what to believe. I still think Brooks goes in the mid-late 2nd, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he went earlier or later.

Sounds like Walter was pretty accurate then:

Jordyn Brooks, ILB, Texas Tech
Height: 6-1. Weight: 240. Hand: 32.88. Hand: 9.13.
40 Time: 4.54.
Projected Round (2020): 2-3.

3/21/20: Brooks has some fans in the scouting community. Some team sources see Brooks as a second-round pick, while others have him as a third- or fourth-rounder. Some think he is a true inside linebacker, but others think he is a Will - weakside - linebacker for the NFL. The ones who have Brooks lower think he is athletic and fast, but has average instincts and does not take on blocks well. The sources who are higher on Brooks think he is a pure middle linebacker who can do it all. Regardless, Brooks will probably be a second-day pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Brooks played very well as a senior in 2019, collecting 108 tackles with three sacks and a forced fumble. He had 84 tackles, 89 tackles and 85 tackles during the previous three seasons.
