So with Breeland coming back that pretty much leaves us open to take the best player on the board.

I'd like in this thread to post some videos and such since in a lot of threads there are questions about how good a guy is and what he can do so twitter and youtube of course are great for vids.

Even though I've pined for Willie Gay quite a bit there are numerous other guys I'd be fine with using our pick on because well they'd be fine fits.

So I'll start with some Willie Gay video since I've been asked a few times what he's good at...

After the top 15 picks...you just want the BPA. If KC has the choice of their 4th rated CB or #1 rated RB...you take a RB.

No team "game plans" around Williams...they did for Hunt. I value a stud RB more than most people as they can take over a game...especially when protecting a lead.

Can you imagine a Charles-level talent in this offense? They already spread a defense about as thin as you can....protecting against the WR speed/Mahomes arm.

Williams has never played in all 16 games in a season in 6 years. Spencer Ware has never been healthy for 16 games in a season.

The Chiefs have jackshit after Williams and there's no guarantee that he'll last 8 games, let alone 16 games. They need a serious upgrade at the RB position, not another guy off the scrap heap.

Westbrook, McCoy and Hunt (before the incident) are his best selections by a long shot. But during that time, the Chiefs hit on Larry Johnson and Jamaal Charles, two players that were clearly in the upper echelon of NFL running backs despite spending the majority of their careers on very bad football teams.

This isn't an indictment of Reid but does prove that he's always searching for quality running backs, even if he has a better-than-average starter, which currently, he does not.

Swift is a top 20 talent in the draft, not gonna be mad if at 32 you are getting the best player at a position.

I’m normally against RB/IOL in the 1st, but when you’re picking 32 and you can get the best player at one of those positions, it makes more sense.

There should be enormous value at #32, which I why I hope Veach trades back to add another 4th or 5th because they could get two really great players in the 2nd round that could contribute immediately, much like Hardman and Thornhill in 2019, while adding another Day 3 pick to use on depth.

Considering there will likely be 4 QB's and 5 OL lineman selected before #32, there should be some serious talent available between 32 and 60.

No doubt. A trade down is certainly ideal. It’s going to be tough with SF and Seattle trying to do the same though.

I’m with you on taking a RB but I think the question is this: is there a giant disparity at the position from 32 to 63 or even 45 to 63?

I think it is possible that JK Dobbins is there at 63 with the amount of OL, WR’s, corners and safeties that will be taken in the 2nd rd.

It also depends on your feelings at the position. Do you think Cam Akers or Zack Moss is a talented RB that bc an give us what Hunt did?

Teams will likely need a bit more draft capital to jump to #27 than to #32, so that should be in the Chiefs favor.

It's all guesswork at this point because we've seen talented 3rd round running backs have success recently (Kamara & Hunt to name a few), while we've seen guys like Barkley, Zeke, Josh Jacobs and others blow up on Day One as well.

Taylor, Dobbins, Swift, CEH and Akers are Tier 1 guys to me. I like Taylor's explosiveness and speed but like others, I'm a bit concerned with the number of carries, more so than his fumbling issue, which Bienemy and McCullough should be able to fix.

Waiting until the end of the third round is a bit risky IMO, because the 5 guys I listed will most likely be gone before the third round and if other teams decide to jump on the remaining backs, there could be slim pickin's at 96.

Chris Simms recently did a podcast...listed his top 5 RBs. His criteria was who made the most when there wasn't much there.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire was his #1 and said it really wasn't close....Taylor was #2 and Swift was #5.

He said Swift wasn't very effective unless there were giant running lanes...

I dont really watch College football but that seems like a reasonable measuring stick...anyone can run for 15 yards if they arent touched.

Out of curiosity...I watched Helaire's highlights and he looked pretty amazing....that said, he's 209/Taylor is 226 and ran a 4.39... nearly .5 faster than Sammy Watkins.

I tend to think he'll go mid-2nd round and it's possible he ends up being the best back chosen in this draft.

Besides the 4.49 40 at the Combine, he's got that size and skillset that made similarly built backs like Priest Holmes, Emmitt Thomas, Ladainian Tomlinsom, James Brooks and so many others, see great success as an NFL running back.

Of course, I'll trust Veach and Reid's judgment on whom they see as the best fit for their offense but I still believe they'll choose a RB before the 4th round.

JaMycal Hasty is a RB that I would look at later if we don't get one of Swift, Dobbins, CEH. The drawback is he won't be a guy you can feed the ball 25 times a game but his touches would be quite effective.
