So lets talk some legit options for our pick.

So with Breeland coming back that pretty much leaves us open to take the best player on the board.

I'd like in this thread to post some videos and such since in a lot of threads there are questions about how good a guy is and what he can do so twitter and youtube of course are great for vids.

Even though I've pined for Willie Gay quite a bit there are numerous other guys I'd be fine with using our pick on because well they'd be fine fits.

So I'll start with some Willie Gay video since I've been asked a few times what he's good at...

I'm watching the Rams "Greatest Show on Turf Timeline" on NFLNetwork right now. If there is a Marshall Faulk RB in this draft, it would be damn hard to pass it up if available at #32.

Nope.

Big Game Dame has a $2.7M cap hit this year.

The #32 pick from past year, N’Keal Harry, doesn’t hit that number until year 3.

You could make a good argument, however, that the devaluing of RB contacts makes drafting an OT or CB at #32 a far better bargain compared to a RB.

Average salary over the life of the two contracts are identical though ($2.5m per), which is the point I was making.

Been thinking about this and I just can’t get down with a RB at 32 or even in in the top 50 with a trade down. Perfectly fine with taking one at 63 though.

There’s just too much talent at key positions and this RB class is deep. I think Andy can find that guy in the 2nd or 3rd rd.

Andy has always been able to find RB’s to perform in the later parts of the draft.

Damien Williams-UFA
Spencer Ware-6th rd pick
Kareem Hunt-3rd rd pick
Brian Westbrook-3rd rd pick

I think the point is more about what Pat could do with an elite running back and not just about Andy being able to find a running back that can perform at a serviceable level. We saw a glimpse of it with Hunt. If we can get that guy outside the first then great! But if the team has a guy like Swift rated as a step above the other backs and they feel that impact will be greater than that of top prospects at other positions I think you have to pull the trigger.

Most likely it will be CB or LB. Maybe IOL. Anything else would shock me. I have thought of DL but that would only be if Jones is traded.

I don't get why some of you want a RB in the 1st round so badly. That position is devalued and there is countless examples of great RBs drafted in the 2nd round and beyond.

And most of all, you usually want a great RB if you have a game manager. When you have an elite QB like Mahomes, sure you want a solid RB but you don't need any elite RB and the OL is certainly more important.

If a RB is truly the best player available to us at our selection, and the Chiefs really really like that player, they should take him.

Is it ideal? No. But it's probably the best option.

Didn’t realize how many FA’s we have after this season. Gonna have to start drafting guys to replace some of these guys.

There are a lot of positions there that dont require major investments, too.

FB and P. TE2. Reserve RB.

Looking at that list, these are “key” positions that they should consider investing in with draft capital (no particular order)

WR
CB
LB
S
IOL

They have 2 drafts and 1.5 FA periods
to address those spots. Not something to worry about, IMO.

The debate is how much better and how much more explosive can this offense be with a household name and top tier runner/pass catcher in the backfield. Damien Williams and Spencer Ware are not/were not that caliber of back. If we are being honest with ourselves is Damien Williams even a top 25 back in the league? Andy Reid spent a second rounder (pick 53) on Shady McCoy in 2009 and he just recently made the all decade team. Can you imagine Shady McCoy in his prime years in this offense? If Veach and Reid think that caliber of back is available at pick #32 itd be hard to pass up.

Mccoy is a HOF rb.

The best back in this draft is Swift, imo. After him Dobbins, CEH not too far behind.

I don't think any of these rbs is better than Jacobs last year. Swift might be close.
