So lets talk some legit options for our pick.

So with Breeland coming back that pretty much leaves us open to take the best player on the board.

I'd like in this thread to post some videos and such since in a lot of threads there are questions about how good a guy is and what he can do so twitter and youtube of course are great for vids.

Even though I've pined for Willie Gay quite a bit there are numerous other guys I'd be fine with using our pick on because well they'd be fine fits.

So I'll start with some Willie Gay video since I've been asked a few times what he's good at...

I highly doubt that’s the plan, But Reiter is going into the last year of his contract and that position needs an upgrade. I’d much rather see that happen in the 2nd or later. I wouldn’t be pissed if they took a good center in the first, but I sure wouldn’t be excited about the pick.

See above

Upgrading the center/guard spot while ignoring the RB position would be insanely dumb.

You want to give Mahomes more time? Get him a feature back.
Don't be dense. Erving at left tackle for half the season was a problem. Wylie and Reiter in spot duty isn't the same as getting exposed as weak long term starters and LDT was not the same player post injury. You know these observations are true. You're not stupid.

We're going to throw 60% of the time even if we have Jim Brown reincarnated at RB because we have Patrick Mahomes and a stellar group of explosive pass catchers.

I'm certainly not against drafting a back. I'm for it actually, and I think the 3rd round should be a sweet spot to do so.

But if you need an 2019 example of an elite back behind a shit line go ask Bell about it. Or maybe ask Hunt how Cleveland is working out so far.

It’s either Cesar Ruiz or nobody in terms of the 1st.

Lovely.

And Mahomes will end up missing just as many games as last year if they don't upgrade the RB position and throw it 60% of the time.

Good ****ing grief.

Why? Why is that the "sweet" spot?

Yeah, because both of those guys are playing for a Hall of Fame coach, right?

Too many people are still stuck in the "need" arena when they need to think about positional value. OMG we need a corner and a linebacker and a defensive lineman. Better draft that!

I've said it for ****ing years.... That's not what the draft is for. But no. "Draft linemen, we can find skill players in free agency."

No. No you can't. Good skill position players don't hit free agency, and they are very rarely traded. Whereas linemen can be reclamated from all over the place.

Draft the best talent you can get. Period. If that's a receiver, it's a receiver. If it's a back it's a back. If it's a linebacker, great. But if we're talking about a lineman at pick 32 he better be ****ing Will Shields (a 3rd rounder btw) or John Tait or Eric Fisher sitting at the bottom of the round, especially when we're talking about a draft class loaded with skill players.

Everything depends on who’s still on the board when we pick.

You never draft for need.

Ever.

Teams that draft for need always end up with a bunch of so so players.

Teams that take the BPA always have premium players.

There is no doubt that they need better offensive line depth but with several glaring holes, I just cannot imagine Veach taking a center over one of the extremely talented WR's.

A LB like Queen in the first would be fantastic but I just don't know if he'll be there at #32 because there are several teams ahead of the Chiefs that could use upgrades at the LB position, too.

So you’re ok with starting Dorian o’daniel at linebacker. Free agency is over. If we don’t draft one, that’s where we are at

Yup. And I wouldn’t be mad...but I also would feel we missed an opportunity to get a top talent at a position that provides more impact.

No, it is not.

There will be guys available to sign in May, without counting against the Comp Pick formula, there will be guys available for trade during Training Camp, just like the last three previous seasons, and there will be UDFA's to groom on the 14 man Practice Squad.

It is not "the end of the world" if the Chiefs don't come away with a LB in this draft.

If they stay at 32, I think Queen will be the guy.

He’s very inexperienced and doesn’t have tons of film. In most off seasons, that’s no big deal. You have other ways of finding out more about the player. In this corona offseason, those ? Will scare off lots of teams and have them go with safer choices.

I honestly think he’s going to fall to us and have a long career making a bunch of all pro teams. He’s exactly what this defense needs to take it up to the next level.

While I agree with you that Queen would be a very nice pick, I just can't help but think that Veach needs to add more selections in this draft.

If he doesn't trade out of #32, there will be enormous pressure on the front office to get the remainder of the 4 selection right because they wouldn't have any room for error.
