So with Breeland coming back that pretty much leaves us open to take the best player on the board.

I'd like in this thread to post some videos and such since in a lot of threads there are questions about how good a guy is and what he can do so twitter and youtube of course are great for vids.

Even though I've pined for Willie Gay quite a bit there are numerous other guys I'd be fine with using our pick on because well they'd be fine fits.

So I'll start with some Willie Gay video since I've been asked a few times what he's good at...

WR is not a big need. You can draft one around round 3 or later but can easily pass too.

After next season, you still have Hill and Hardman. You can easily sign a decent FA and draft one next year and you're still good to keep rolling.

Really not sure that Veach will be drafting any WR this draft. It obviously all depends on how the draft board falls.

Easily, huh? Yeah, I'm sure the Chiefs will have an extra $10-15 million to spend on a WR after paying Mahomes $35+ million, Clark $20 million, etc. and so on.

Only a guy that can routinely make something from nothing could've done that. Hunt isn't that kind of back. Jamaal Charles in his prime could have I suppose.

I'm not arguing that we couldn't use an upgrade at RB but I see IOL as a fairly desperate need for upgrade

Easy.

You sign one of those FA that costs you less than 5M per season. A player to be your #3 or #4 WR. Those don't cost $10-$15 million per season. Why did I need to explain that?

WR is a bigger need than anyone acknowledges. Watkins and Robinson are on 1-year deals. That means Hill and Hardman in 2021. That's it. This would be a perfect year to take advantage of a deep class, find a guy in a middle round that would grade much higher in a 'normal' WR class, work him in slowly in 2020 (like they would have with Hardman in 2019 without Hill's injuries) and have him hit the ground full speed in 2021.

Waiting a year to do that means we're probably getting less value out of a higher pick, and we're waiting until 2022 for real production.

In 2018, Hunt had 824 yards and 7 rushing TD's in only 11 games, many of which featured Erving, Wylie, Reiter and LDT.

Upgrading the center/guard spot while ignoring the RB position would be insanely dumb.

You want to give Mahomes more time? Get him a feature back.

I'm pretty sure we're going to do both but I agree upgrading the interior line play is the biggest necessity.

I know I wouldn't be upset.

About the only thing that would "upset" me in this draft would be staying at #32 and taking a guard/center, when there are game changers on the board.

Andy Reid has routinely taken offensive lineman on Day 3 who've become solid, if not spectacular, lineman.

The same can't be said for RB. I've posted his RB draft history recently and outside of a few hits (McCoy, Hunt & Westbrook), it's been a ton of misses, even in the third round.
