I think Tennessee might've thought that. I KNOW Houston thought that for a quarter. They were talking mad shit and laughing. I will always remember Watson specifically running his mouth. He didn't have much to say by the fourth quarter though. He wasn't laughing anymore. |

Mahomes >>>Brees at this point as most casual fans still think it's 2009 and Brees is in his prime. He's not. |

It’s hilarious that 49er fan thinks we aren’t talented on offense. Go ahead and think that an old declining game manager Brees is better than Mahomes or that their weapons are better.
Your team will find out fast that we have so many weapons that they can’t handle. This isn’t old ass declining Ted Ginn and none of these guys is a possession receiver like Michael Thomas. This is pure speed baby. Tyreek Kelce Hardman Watkins Robinson There is not a single set of receivers with the volume that we have. And don’t forget Damien Williams who has 8, yes EIGHT TD’s in 4 playoff games. Go ahead and write him off and watch as he gets even more scores on your defense.

The Chiefs are only Mahomes!!!
Just forget that we have: Two of the fastest WRs in the league. Some would argue...the best TE in the league. Easily a top 3 OT in the league. Currently the leader in post season sacks for this year. Arguably the 2nd best DT in the league. An All Pro at safety. One of the best young kickers in the game. Arguably the most prolific play caller in the league. And a defensive coordinator that’s shut down Tom Brady and a 18-0 Pats team in the SB. Yep....just Mahomes. |

I wanted to see the stats for myself, so I looked at total rush yards given up per game for both SF & KC from week 11 on including playoffs. KC had 8 games, SF had 9 games from that point forward. KC gave up a total of 749 yards in those 8 games for an average of 94 yards a game. They had 3 games giving up over 100 yards. SF gave up a total of 937 rushing yards in those 9 games for an average of 104 yards per game. They had 5 games giving up more than 100 yards; and 3 games giving up 135+ yards. |

Here's a question.
So we've seen all the stats on the impact Dee Ford has had on the 49ers DL, right? Obviously their pass rush gets measurably better when he's on the field. But he's largely a 3rd down player that comes in on clear passing downs. Isn't EVERYONE'S pass rush measurably better on clear passing downs? Is this a situation where Ford actually directly impacts his teammates or is it one where he comes in during situations that directly impact his teammates? Does he make them better, or does he come in when they're already set up to succeed? Is he a spurious variable here? You see this a lot in hockey where certain players are on the ice for offensive zone face-offs so they have really good possession numbers and things of that nature. Meanwhile other guys are defensive specialists and they come in to face the other team's top line and/or they're put in for defensive zone face-offs and other situations where their odds of putting up conventional numbers are pretty remote. Their +/- figures will naturally take a hit there but in the end they are still doing their jobs pretty well - they're just put in tougher situations. Is Ford simply being put in the game when his teammates were ALREADY likely to succeed? I'm sure there's a way to get those splits put together (mostly just compare 'passing down' productivity with/without Ford on the field), but I wouldn't know how to go about it. It's ultimately relevant in that it could go a long way to determining the Chiefs success on 1st and 2nd downs, or 3rd and short situations where you're not looking at an obvious passing situation. Even if Ford is on the field for those snaps - will it actually matter? Is his impact because of him or situation? And if it's situation dependent, the Chiefs and their efficiency on 1st and 2nd downs could completely eliminate his impact and end up making the 49ers pass rush productivity more in line with their 'without Ford' figures, which are largely pedestrian.

Many of us thought he was going to be WAY too expensive for a part-time player, which is why we were cool with the tag-and-trade option rather than re-signing him. You can run right the **** at him and completely neutralize him. He's terrible against the run. Not like mediocre; like you can literally block him with a WR. Awful. As a pass rusher, he's got ONE elite trait: his first step. He beats you off the ball, or he gets stuffed. He either beats you immediately, or disappears. I don't give a shit about Dee Ford. I doubt he will be much of a factor. He's not near the complete player that Bosa is. |

Re: DJ
I think you’re talking about the same sort of thing I was thinking of last week. They use him as a pure pass rusher who gets to pin his ears back. Against teams that are so run heavy like Min and GB, that’s probably perfect. Get them behind the chains, then you unleash their fierce front 4. If the Chiefs are executing like they can though, there may not be all that many 3rd & long situations. I mean, first snap of the game, odds are you’re seeing a SF front comprised of Bosa, Buckner, Day, and Armstead. Do I want to run into that? No, probably not. All good, KC loves to throw it anyway and that particular set of rushers there does not scare me against the Chiefs pass pro. |
