I agree that they play a solid zone, but we all know what Pat and Kelce do to zones. We've played some of the best zone teams over the last two years and not one of them has even slowed Pat down. And Kelce feasts on zone. It's his production against zone that's the primary reason teams tried to switch to man. High bracket Hill and double Kelce. Which is only a little more effective this year. A healthy Watkins and the addition of Mecole have pretty much eliminated our issues against man.

Play zone and Kelce will find the soft spot and play catch with Pat every single down.

Doesn't matter unfortunately, they will never play strict zone on us. Their DC has to know better than that. They're going to try and play something like the Belichick defense against Hill and Kelce.

Patrick Mahomes tucking the ball and running has blown that strategy to hell over the past two weeks. Removing both Kelce and Hill (Bill B. style) has simply not worked when Patrick can now tuck the ball and gash the D with his legs or find Playoff Watkins on a 1v1 matchup down field. Regular Season Watkins would disappear in these matchups, but Playoff Watkins is just scorching defenders down the field.

Patrick running is catching people by surprise, but Patrick did it early in the year when he was healthy too. The Lions did the Bill defense and simply allowed Patrick to run all over them rather than allow Hill and Kelce to run free (it's how we won that game). You have to wonder how the 49ers D will respond/prepare. Vrabel said they "gameplanned" for Mahomes running, but the gameplan clearly didn't work. While they were able to remove Kelce (at times there were three defenders on him), it came at a great cost, with Watkins going HAM to seal it in the second half.

Unlikely. Though I do expect they will pressure Pat as much as they can. But they won't rack up a bunch of sacks, or even put him on his back all that much. Andy knows how to scheme against that. The Niners are going to have to blitz occasionally to generate consistent pressure. What Pat does when that happens will be interesting to see. Of course, historically, Pat is the best QB in NFl history against the blitz . . .

Jurrell Casey and Jeffrey Simmons are as good or better players than Buckner or Armstead and they may as well have been ****ing dead on Sunday cause I didn’t notice them once.
