It's probably just a risk factor and not causative but i would never mess around with that. Semen mixing with blood in your body and making your body think there is some foreign material invading your body just doesn't seem right. More modern vasectomy practices - which involve cutting, then cauterizing, and finally tying each end would likely reduce the hypothesized cause/connection.

I don’t think they cauterize anymore or atleast they didn’t on me. Maybe they did I never smelt it tho

There are a couple different procedures. My doc said he does it a couple different ways but if everything is good, does it the one way which involves cauterizing. I dont think you would have missed the smell.
