Chiefs defensive improvements after eight games

Chiefs have made strides. We just need to keep getting a little better and get healthy. Flame away.

The Denver game was nice to see, but you had to be skeptical considering the Pile High Shitshow.

The Packer game was more impressive as a hope that we might actually improve in some key areas.

AR made two incredibly difficult throws that bailed them out. Take those away and we probably walk away with a win.

The tackling is better, Saunders actually looks like he will be a player even though he still makes mistakes as rookies will do, but their are things to feel good about for sure that 3 weeks ago were not evident. That defense looked worse than last year.

Time will tell if this is a trend or a fluke. There seems to be an edge to them that was missing.

Terez talked about it, but they've made a concerted effort to play aggressive and just downhill. It will inevitably give up some plays, but to me, that's fine. I'd rather do that and try to force the offense into shit and being aggressive than sitting back and getting thousand cuts beaten.

It's beating a dead horse, but the defense has done exactly what we all wanted it to do. No, they aren't a top 5 unit, but they were never supposed to be. They've gotten stops and held point totals low, it's on the offense to score points.

For this team the best defense is still a great offense. Anyone expecting this unit to stop a team with 5 minutes left and we are down 1 score is going to be sorely disappointed.

Reids excuse for punting, and the horrific wasted time out was "We have a chart we use for that."

Hasnt worked for you for 20 years, Andy. I think its time for a new ****ing chart.

If you look up poor clock management, theres a picture of Andy ****ing Reid. 11 year old Madden players know more about when to punt/go for it, or use timeouts than this guy.

If we dont blow the doors off the opponent with a barrage of Mahomes plays and win by 2-3 scores, dont get your hopes up that Andy can coach a tight game victory.

Its simply not who he is. If he punts, with the game on the line again, he should be removed on principle.

That sack of AR in the red zone was a good example. No doubt in my mind he finds the right guy to keep it going and eventually punch it in if we don't rush him there.

(2) You're being disingenuous. The Chiefs defense did not "stop" the Colts late in the game. They held them to 6 after giving up two drives that resulted in 12 minutes off the clock.

I'll concede that the offense was objectively terrible that game. But we also had the ball for less than 4 minutes in the 4th quarter.
Getting field goals is getting a stop. Especially when the other team starts at the frickin' 40.

The D gave the offense a chance to win the game. Period.

This is more to my point. Honestly though, I didn't realize it was that much. That Denver game must have brought the average up.

The offense was scoring more last year though giving the defense more possessions it feels like. Could be wrong on that though.

Games are condensed now with fewer possessions, though.

This team has shown massive improvement on defense in the secondary and stopping big plays.

They just need to clean some things up on run defense and fix the LB issue in coverage.

For next year, we should be able to get a good starting LB at the end of the 1st round.

The aggressiveness over the last two games is very inspiring and a joy to watch. I'm so glad veach didn't give up any draft picks for an expensive player trying to win now. We have some solid peaces on defense and just need to continue to build through the draft.

Our D-Line is beasting and our secondary is playing just fine. We've still not lost a game by more than one score since Mahomes became the starter. We're just not getting the breaks yet that will eventually come with continued effort.

We'll be fine.

Wrong. Had Mahomes against the Texans. Punted with just over 5 to go.
