I’m not sure I’d sign him at any cost.

Marvin Lewis is obviously gonna try to talk some sense into the kid and if he can convince him to keep any protests away from the football team and not to link the team in the media to protests, he will probably sign him. The Bengals don’t have a problem bringing in dumbasses...
Why are you calling him a "dumbass" and trying to smear the man with fake news? Because he protested against police brutality? SMH

Did you people even read the article at all?

JFC

None of the Bengals players have knelt during the national anthem, but they did link arms as a team in a show of unity during the anthem prior to their game against the Packers on Sept. 24. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis has said he is proud of how his team handled things last year, but has also said he doesn't want anything to get in the way of football.

"Our guys have been excellent in this situation," Lewis told reporters at the owners' meetings. in March "Because we are about playing football. They have other agendas, this is not the place to be. On Sunday for us and throughout the week in the building, it's about football. That's how I've approached it."

Teams don’t want to run the risk of the huge distraction this brings their team.

He said he wouldn’t be protesting “during the anthem”.

He also said he would find other ways....

He has chosen to use his platform as an nfl player for protests in the past and he doesn’t seem to understand a couple things when he does that...

1) the nfl is a BUSINESS. Businesses have sponsers and business relationships that provide the sport its income. When your actions detract from that, the business will replace you.

2) When you earn the privilege of being an NFL player, you are an EMPLOYEE of the NFL team that writes your paychecks. I’m in a leadership role with a massive company and if I used that platform to protest something that could hurt my companies interests, I’m sure I wouldn’t be someone they would rush to give increased pay to.

Sure they can. Everyone has the right to voice their opinion and support to whatever topic they like.

But they need to understand that there are consequences to every action both good and bad...if they hurt the interests of their employer, would that employer rush to increase their pay or even to keep them employed?

Some of you simply don’t understand that the NFL is a multi billion dollar business (maybe trillion with everything factored in) and that they will always protect their interests.

1. IS PROTESTING DURING THE ANTHEM AGAINST NFL RULES? NO

2. HOW HAS IT "HURT THE BUSINESS"? NFL STILL GETTING BIG RATINGS AND BIG SPONSORSHIP DEALS!!..SO PLEASE STOP WITH THAT BS.

3. FINDING "OTHER WAYS" MOST LIKELY MEANS DOING STUFF THAT MAKE THINGS BETTER IN THE COMMUNITIES HE CARES ABOUT. SO QUIT TRYING TO PUT WORDS INTO THE MANS MOUTH.

Do what you are getting paid to do. NFL players are wearing the uniform of their team to play football and getting paid. They are not getting paid to take political sides and make a spectacle of themselves for a cause. They are not civil rights leaders. You wanna fight the man? Do it on your own time.

I'd be pretty damn happy with the offseason if they could snag Reid.

Snatch up a good corner with the first pick of the draft they have and a few DL, and the D is in damn good shape going forward.

My thoughts as well. If the Chiefs can get quality play from two of three draft picks being CB, DL and safety, it is not out of question that the defense could be a top 10 unit. I personnally am happy with Houston, Ford and Kpassagnon as the edge rushers for this year.

If you snag a FA safety, then you have more latitude to be agressive and pick a CB and DL early.

Which is exactly what Reid has said he will do, and leave it all off the field, not on.

So i ask again, wtf is the problem now?

So your stance is that you can't be a civil rights activist in your free time...off the field.

wow.

It kind of depends on how he goes about it. There are lots of highly paid, highly visible jobs where the way you live "off the field" factors into whether or not you keep your job.

Don't think he's saying that at all. I think he's saying that actions have consequences and if a player's actions create difficulty/problems on or off the field then they will be replaced. Good football players get replaced every day because they can't stay healthy or simply because the next guy's has a better attitude or whatever. It doesn't matter what or when it happens, if you do something that hurts the company you work for unless your business card says owner you can/will be replaced with someone that improves the company. Just cold hard bizness.
