NCAA Tournament Selection Thread

Are you excited to fill out a bracket tonight? I have seriously mixed feelings.

I don't know who's given me worse battered wife sports syndrome: Mizzou Basketball or Chiefs football.

Mizzou is expected to make the NCAA tournament for the first tine since 2013. Nice, but so what? In the last 30 years, Mizzou ALWAYS flames out flamboyantly, usually in its first game - including some horrendous losses to a #11, #13, #14 and #15 seed. And when they do make it far, they've either had to forfeit the season or they get Tyus Edney'ed.

It's hard to be this bad in the first round, but check out this history of futility:

1986: Lost #6 UAB 64-66
1987: Lost #13 Xavier 69-70
1988: Lost #11 Rhode Island 80-87
1990: Lost #14 Northern Iowa 71-74
1993: Lost #7 Temple 61-75
1999: Lost #9 New Mexico 59-61
2000: Lost #9 North Carolina 84-70
2011: Lost #6 Cincinnati 63-78
2012: Lost #15 Norfolk State 84-86
2013: Lost to #8 Colorado State 72-84

Oh and if that isn't bad enough, Mizzou also has a history of flame out in the NIT. They've only won two NIT games in team history. So they don't even have NIT success working for them!

Good luck to KSU Wildcats and Wichita State Shockers.

KU doesn't need any luck. Just ask their fans

You never know buddy. Hawaii got in a few years ago and upset California in the 1st round. It was kind of the emotional equivalent to me of when the Royals won the WS.

Kim Anderson also played basketball at Mizzou, and guys like Shaka Smart won more meaningful games in March than Norm ever did.

If you want to look at his contributions to Mizzou baseball, then name a urinal after him at Taylor Stadium.

The only question that remains is whether they'll put Missouri (8/9) in Kansas' bracket (1). You would assume so, but we'll see.

I think Mizzou might fall down to the 10-line after that embarrassing performance in the SEC tourney and Barnett's impending suspension.

MU losing to UNI was one of the greatest games. Watching at Northwest Mo. You could hear the state deflate.

I am out of the tourney talk this year. No one I care about is in.

Wet blanket.

But KU doesn't want to play any of the teams in the region that aren't in their conference. So the committe should respect their wishes

I'm not one of the big "Norm guys" but he deserves to have a court named after him

Our football field is named after Don Faurot. If we're gonna go around changing the names of fields/courts, start there

Well, except for Nebraska and Colorado...so maybe the committee should recognize KU's hypocrisy.

Yes. But it's all about CBS now. And they'll push for that if they can. Like putting a five conference loss, seven overall on the one line

Announcing the teams first before the brackets unsurprisingly doesn't work at all (it's literally only dramatic television to like 6 fanbases). They won't be doing this next year.

yeah WTF? The only reason to watch all of this selection show was to watch teams react to being there and who they are playing.
