In a game the Chiefs lost by six points, Alex Smith missed three wide open TDs

And yes he had a clean pocket on the second one.

When has this happened before...against the Steelers...in a crucial game....

Spoiler!

Flame away.

I agree the offense was extremely poor.

But the Steelers took over 6 minutes off the clock on the first drive, we turned right around and chucked it out of the endzone for the safety, recovered the kick, kicked the FG and gave it right back to them. They ran off another 6-7 minute drive and scored a TD.

Are you really arguing the offense left the defense out there to get tired when they let Pittsburgh control the ball for about 13 of the first 15 minutes of the game?

the rest of the league will catch on. All they need is a top tier defense.

I've stated many times in many different threads that ALEX SMITH WAS A HUGE reason the Chiefs lost today. Despite the fact you won't acknowledge it I'm as fair as they come to Alex Smith. His miss to Robinson was absolutely inexcusable. Have to keep the ball in the field of play.

ChiefsPlanet aka the king of overreaction message board...

You can't blame a loss on one person.. Football is not an individual sport. It isn't one-on-one... Smitty played bad so did pretty much everyone.. Offense and defense both played like s**t and give credit to the Steelers. They had a good game plan on offense and defense and clearly matchup very well with us.

Anyway bad games happen and this is the NFL which has the best players in the world. That's why it is almost impossible to go undefeated only team to do it was 1972 Dolphins in a shortened season. I mean look at the Broncos currently getting blown out by the injury plagued Giants after a bye week and the Steelers got their asses kicked by the Jags the wk before... Point is you move on from it and get ready for the next game.

Stop acting like it is the end of the world.... We'll bounce back.

VARSITY
Defense gives up too many yards but didn't give up many points. They get a smack on the knuckles.

Offensive line lived up to their name. OFFENSIVE

Sorry, Alex turned back into Alice today but he wasn't the biggest reason we lost.

The biggest reason we lost is that this team played with no heart against the team that smacks them around like their little bitch every time we play them.

I know you hate Alex, and I get it. But I still maintain this was a thorough bed shitting by the entire team. Alex sucked, OLine sucked, recievers sucked, fuggin defense was horrendous. Good punting though. So there's that.

I was more pissed we couldn't muster 10 ****ing yards or a first down in the first half.

It was a game we needed the offense to pull through and it went full reidtard.

TL;DR

I have read a ton of comments through the game and up to now and can't understand why people are not pointing out the specific glaring thing missing from this game. So odd.. like it's on purpose holding cards for later (no not really buying the conspiracy, but...).

NO horizontal shifting in the game whatsoever!!...

Between Tyreek & DAT literally not even a single fake handoff across the backfield, let alone the fancy double fake flip to Kelce.

The Chiefs clearly have a lot of respect for Shaziers speed, but you have to keep the D honest, I mean WTF? The reason people have been raving about Reid & Nagy's playcalling this year is because of how they have been ruthlessy ripping teams up not just verticall, but horizontally as well. Opening up lanes for the RB, making scramble ops for big passes, and on and on.

We turned Tyreek Hill into Albert Wilson tonight (Wilson has been great this year, not the point.). The Chiefs didn't make the Steelers respect their world class speed AT ALL this game.

When you get into a game, one of two things is going to happen.. You play your game and force the other team to scramble and try to keep up, or you find yourself the one scrambling and needing to regroup. The composed team always wins. The Chiefs never even tried to assert themselves on the Steelers in this manner tonight. They lined up and ran right at the line that continuously outmuscles the Chiefs O-line. Adding to that, it rattled the O line which led to a slew of drive killing penalties, and had Smith running happy feet central trying not to get his ass kicked in there? We leave Watt & Miller unblocked and blow right by their asses but all the sudden it's the Steelers the only option is just to pray not to get sacked and just chuck the shit?

Furthermore... Smith is probably the best reader of defenses in the entire NFL.. when they do these crosses behind the line it sets him up to be able to diagnose the mismatches and exploit.

And then tonight... NOTHING!

Line up, get ****ed or get sacked. if you're standing long enough chuck it with the fear of god in you like you are about to get drilled and throw shitty ****ing passes.

This game was ****ed before it started. Reid & Co tucked tail in the damn office room last monday. If you have weapons, you have to force the defense to respect them, not do what they want instead.

Alex11 didn't look like he had much time and when he tried to make a play he either threw a bad pass or a good one that should have been caught yet wasn't.
Running game was non existent along with the lack of a consistent passing game dd in barely a 3rd town turnover and you get failure to score a TD every quarter.

I keep preaching that we must score 1 TD a quarter in able to win, not wait til the last few (6) minutes to do so.

We started the game with a 2 point ****up and then acted like we didn't have a game plan and if we did we failed to impliment it.

Stopping the run in the center of the field. FAIL Le'Veon Bell ran for 179 yards and a touchdown.

Passing defense, 1 pick, 200 yards if you don't count the Brown TD pass that should have never happened. Play that in my opinion lost the game for us! In a pass fail I give holding Big Ben to 250 yards a PASS. Grade on Browns TD. FAIL

Offense rushing You look up the stats but I say "What rushing game" FAIL

Passing game: 6 measly yards and one first down in the first half= 23 passing yards. 2nd half: lots of yardage yet only a TD and a field goal. There was 6 minutes of Offense and there were drops and bad throws that made them non productive. FAIL

Special teams No mistakes nothing special but an ataboy for the bobbled catch yet an AW Shit for offense for failing to get points from it PASS

Overall: The high point of Sunday football has been the NYG whooping the Donkeys and Chargers beating the Raiders making the AFC west look like this:

If you have to pass deep to make the corners respect it, and you have to run the ball even in limited success to make the D respect it... Why the ****... if you built your entire team around making them respect sideline to sideline to, you just don't even ****ing bring it to the field for a game as big as this? Even if they did have the speed to catch Tyreek or DAT ripping across the line.. you still have to make the defenders account for it so you can hurt them on the other side of the coin.

What are you talking about?

If the D can't get off the field, your offense isn't going to have opportunities to score. Moreover, they'll be harder, because the D you're going up against is fresh, and it will be harder for your D to stop the other team's O because your D will be tired.

This is football orthodoxy, and I have never heard one person ever claim that it is incorrect. If you have rationale as to why, please provide it.
