This.

I don't see a lot of GMs out there just cutting 3rd round picks after they made a mistake drafting him. Now he obviously gets dinged for picking him....but at least he cut him and moved on.

Not to mention he usually finds somebody like Terrance Mitchell that makes you forget about it all together

There's nothing 'logical' about that theory at all unless it's also combined with Hunts refusal to attempt to buy it out. One of those cannot exist without the other.
It's the only logical conclusion.

Bob LaMonte represents Dorsey and Reid. If LaMonte couldn't negotiate a contract to Hunt and Dorsey's liking, LaMonte would have been fired and someone else would have tried to negotiate a deal.

As far as we know, that didn't happen.

Dorsey wasn't fired for reckless spending or cutting Maclin or poor salary cap management when he's brought so much success to the Chiefs organization. Clark Hunt has never reacted with anger or disgust towards his employees. Hell, he even tried to convince Reid to work with Pioli!

There had to be a fatal impasse in the negotiations, so much so that Hunt said, "We're better off without you this year", while paying him this year.

yep, I loved Dorseys pedal to the metal churn through turds to get to the gems process.

Just keeping churning the bottom of the roster until you hit.

Its way better than a style like Fat Scotts where pluck from the bottom of the turd barrell once in March and the draft and thats all you get for the entire upcoming season

I think this comes down to this team wont be manageable going forward unless we bring in a guy capable of managing cap space appropriately. Its bizarre to think about but this roster has become so talented that scouting and talent acquisition takes a backseat to cap manipulation now, and Dorsey just simply is not the guy for that.

Think of alllllll the young talent we have that are players you are going to want to keep long-term throughout this roster currently, I dont think Clark believes Dorsey is capable of handling that properly. What contracts do you really think he would end up giving Peters, a top flight CB? Dee Ford, a promising pass rusher at a position that is simply not cheap. Chris Jones, a blooming DL with an immense ceiling. Tyreek could be expensive if he turns into a true WR. Thats just the names we know of now, what happens when we have another year of Dorsey finds that could progress into notable talents (Mitchell, Hunt, Conley, Murray possibly)?

I'm not saying this is THE reason, but I think its one of a few that made Clark weary. Along with the possible GB departure, maybe the locker room relationship with the front office after how the whole Maclin thing worked out, and probably the fact that Dorsey got rid of the teams WR1 and has yet to do anything with the space and the team is like "wtf why get rid of him for nothing?". Not to mention I'm sure Hunt has started to get tired of exiting players that he's probably grown quite fond of like JC and Maclin having disparaging words about the franchise on their way out.

Idk, this is by far one of the most bizarre and shocking developments of my time as a chiefs fan and i'm just grasping at some explanations here but so far those has given me the most solace. Take it for what you will, but I definitely think there's some elements of these things that are contributors and until we get some true clarity on the situation I'm going to go with these.

Jamaal/Maclin cut = it's not personal it's just business
Dorsey fired= it's not business it's personal

We may never know the full story, but to pay someone to sit at home the rest of the year the day you announce an extension with Reid was either meant to be a distraction or a make a statement. It's just illogical to not have him carryout his contract unless Hunt felt it was necessary to end things immediately due to behind the scenes stuff we don't know about, or a power play by Reid/Hunt/Whomever. The message is clear between Dorsey and Hunt, the problem is us figuring out what that message is with such little info available.
