Sweet.

So we have Al Davis now only 40 years younger. That should work out well for all of us more than 20 years old or so. Looking forward to watching this guy tinker and bumble**** his way into irrelevance over the coming decades.

If he's meddling in actual football operations while ignoring results, he's welcome to fist himself. And if he's firing a GM because he doesn't like a cap situation, regardless of the record, then he's meddling in football operations.

I don't think the GB report was speculation. I honestly think there was truth to it and Dorsey was thinking about it.
That article never gets written without a very specific purpose behind it. Either 1) GB there is no ownership like most teams so without being pinpoint accurate just say it's a board of directors or whatever and say Mark Murphy I think his name is...the CEO wants Dorsey to replace Thompson when his contract runs out in 2018. They know if that story gets out that it's likely Dorsey doesn't re up in KC. Or 2) it's a negotiation tactic by Dorsey to get him the large contract he wants and realistically deserves. Maybe he screwed himself there rather than helped himself if it coming from his camp was the case. That article looked bad and definitely pissed Hunt off. Rightfully so. But what no one is talking about is that Dorsey left GB before and obviously regretted it because he only lasted a year in Seattle when Holmgren became HC and GM when he was allowed to leave GB because of a clause that let him leave with an opening for the GM/HC role and title. That's probably had to do with working Holmgren instead of Wolf but also living in GB is something he obviously loves. That article goes into detail about his ties and comfort with the area.

I hate losing him and just trying to make sense of it. But I think it's obvious the writing was on the wall ever since that article was printed. There was too much specifics like Dorsey being paid among the lower tier of GMs. That article would sting any owner and show lack of loyalty on some level. You would hope it's a business is business type deal and that works both ways. Either way it sucks to see happen

The escape clause isn't a logical conclusion.

John Dorsey didn't leave tens of millions of dollars on the table for a chance at a job he has maybe a 25% chance at.

There's nothing 'logical' about that theory at all unless it's also combined with Hunts refusal to attempt to buy it out. One of those cannot exist without the other.

When the team sucks, the national spotlight isn't on you, you don't get the credit, you don't get the glory and you simply don't have the market (or the ego) that will compel you to chase every dime. It's basic human nature. But when teams are winning, everybody on that squad is positive they're a big part of it and when the time comes to cash in, those demands are always higher.

Every single good team ever has had to deal with it. The cost of their players increases disproportionately with their actual success. And if you don't have someone like Brady just donating money to Bob Kraft so that he can paid after he retires, it's just the nature of the beast in a hard cap league.

Scott Pioli was a brilliant cap manager because his teams...sucked. And if Hunt prefers his 'stars and scrubs' model over paying the depth players like Dorsey prefers, then Clark is still a ****ing reerun because it is demonstrably true that Dorsey's method is more successful with the exception of the 'get a HoF quarterback at all costs' rule. And Dorsey just MADE that gambit in a baller ass move to get Mahomes.

And he got ****ing fired.

Jesus **** this is stupid. Just catastrophically reeruned.

Huge misconception

I have no doubt we will, but in terms of personnel decisions and all that, I imagine I will be much more critical going forward.

I don't think our draft philosophy will do a 180, but I'm confident that it was Dorsey's war room on draft day.

Regardless moving forward the new guy will make mistakes as did Dorsey. One thing I liked about Dorsey is he was able to walk away from his mistakes. That is something IMO that plagued this franchise for years. Obviously Cassel, Jackson, etc for Pioli. During the Vermiel years it was guys like McCleon.

As some know, I used to work for a company that had a sponship with the Chiefs. Owner has been a STH for decades and has been at events with Clark many times, including the one where I briefly met Scooter Poole.

I don't work there anymore but I know people that do and just text them to ask what the owner of the company is hearing through the grapevine.

I'll say it again. I'm devastated by the sacking of John Dorsey. He was IMO the very best thing this organization had.

Do you guys realize that we might have been the very best team at drafting overall for the last four years? And everyone knows drafting is absolutely key to building a championship team and perennial winner.
