I hate that Dorsey is out but Andy is more important to players and success. I thank Dorsey for the Mahomes deal and he could definitely find talent all over. Good luck to him and the good thing we may have better cap management going forward. This team seemingly never has money.

If Clark thought Dorsey was that invaluable, he would have given him the deal. When is the last time the Chiefs didn't give a worthy individual what they were worth if not more? I'm thinking they see something brewing that makes Dorsey simply not worth what he's asking.

Hunts been involved with most if not all decisions according to reports, if you liked the decision making and path KC has been on lately, no reason to stop now.

That almost makes it more irritating. Coaches/front office execs don't count against the cap. Pay the man.

What if there has been someone who has been doing the real legwork behind the scenes? Dorsey gets the credit obviously because he's the GM, but it's possible that he's just the mouthpiece for the overall scouting department.

The mass exodus of chiefs front office guys makes me believe there's something more to this story. I hope it's that Dorsey is insufferable to work for. That would make it a much easier pill to swallow. But I just don't see that being the case.

Eye for talent bests bean counter.

You can hire a numbers guy for around 200k to do the books and crunch numbers.

If I didn't know better, I'd be starting to think something crazy like inheriting a bunch of family money along with an NFL team doesn't automatically make someone an intelligent NFL team owner.

But that can't be right...

John Dorsey has done a lot of good for KC in the last 4 years but has had his hiccups. Costing the boss 20-50 million extra in messed up/late contracts is not good for job security. Showing an "I want to be here unless my dream job shows up" isn't always good for job security if it proves out that way.
I would say that he has excellent ideas on talent evaluation but he isn't the only scout for the Chiefs and I'd bet there are people in the scouting ranks who have adopted some of his methodology.
Giving the team 10 months to get the new guy established and on board and ready for the next draft is about as good as you can hope for continuity for the long term or at least better than the 2 months Dorsey had when he came to town.
It will be very interesting to see the bits and pieces that filter out as to the true reasons but I'm thinking problems with cap/contracts and an "I'd leave if the right job came along" are the main driving forces behind this train.

The fact they said a GM won't be announced until TC, makes me think they have someone secured or at least in mind that is "agreed" hypothetically after they go through the mandatory interviews for hiring.

Most reports and Hunt's letter point to this being his decision. He stated that he evaluated all football operations and decided that this was the right move. Knowing that....

I think it could be as simple as Dorsey was costing the team a lot of money. The owners are as greedy as it gets, and Dorsey has left plenty of dead money on the table the past few years.
