Apparently Reid said that Dorsey has been thinking about the release of Maclin for quite some time now.

Now add Maclin to Sammy Watkins, Shady McCoy and Zay jones. I think they had a good offseason.
And they get both Shaq Lawson and Reggie Ragland after losing them to injury last year. Don't sleep on the Bills.

Well since Maclin has only been in KC for 2 years and his 1st year was the 2nd best year of his career. One good year, one bad partial year so I'm not really sure what his definition of "quite some time" is.

2015 KC 15 gm 87 rec 1,088 yrds 12.5 avg
2016 KC 12 gm 44 rec 536 yrds 12.2 avg

Part of the bad year was due to missing 4 games. Of course, he didn't seem to have his mind right for much of rest of last year.

Makes all the sense in the world.

If he can pick up the playbook, he could be a difference maker at the Z. The size is less than ideal but that's not actually a prerequisite for this sytem. It doesn't hurt, but size can often interfere with quickness in and out of breaks and given one or the other, I'd take the quickness in this system every single time.

If Hill continues to develop, he could be the best receiver the franchise has had since Otis. That's not a terribly high bar but the guy's natural receiving ability just absolutely floored me last year.

The rest is in the margins.

If Hill can duplicate what Maclin gave us in '15 as a true threat at the Z, then all you need to replace is what the collection of misfit parts in the slot gave us that year (so what Wilson and a rookie Conley managed).

Sure, Robinson could manage that pretty easily.

If anyone is going to make this easy to deal with, it will be Hill. And if he does, the ceiling on the offense is actually HIGHER than it's been in years because guys like Robinson and a more battle-tested Conley have far more potential for production in the X and Y roles than the guys we were running out there in '15 across from a healthy Maclin.

And if he can't, there's no making up for not having a reliable Z receiver in this offense. It really limits what you can do with the system that way. It won't be Robinson (he may have improved, but not that much) and I doubt it can be Conley because he lacks the fluidity. This will come down to Hill's ability to take the reins.

From a guy who's team just cut a their #1 WR to dump cap.

LOL

One year removed from a SB still competed down to the wire last RS.

I guess even the Cubs managed to win after 108 years, maybe kc can get a SB before they hit the 50 year mark.
