Here's Conley leaping through the air to snatch the ball away from Gaines...

Lighting a fire under the rest of the teams ass. I like it.

Our receivers aren't the Frankie Hammond's of the world anymore, Dorsey has stockpiled potential there so I'm honesty okay if we go into the season with what we have.

It'll be a breath of fresh air really.

As crisp as he may have been, he probably wasn't 13.5M dollars crisp.

A very Patriots move...

When you have an elite tight end and a solid run game, you can get by on a squad of low end tier 1 and tier 2 receivers

Tyreek Hill offset Maclin's drop in production in 2016. Hill and Conley will both likely have to produce more this season to offset the loss because I'm doubtful that a handful of rookies and a 2nd year guy that could only muster 4 snaps are going to do it. I don't think that's a huge stretch to expect 800 yards each out of Conley and Hill and 200 yards out of a rookie, but it still has to happen just to break even. We'll see how it transpires, but I'm certainly not jumping up and down about this transaction at the moment.
I'm not happy about this either...there has to be an ulterior motive to this more than just saving money. 12-4 teams dont usually cut their #1 WR without having a contingency in place. While Maclin had a bad year, there really isn't anyone to take his place when he's healthy. He knows this system better than than any other WR on the roster.

I dont see how this makes the Chiefs a better team in 2017...

Kind of a raw deal to have him practicing out there in OTAs, risking injury, when they were going to cut him after June 1st. Dorsey did him dirty, IMO.

works well, if you have a TE that doesn't drop game clinching receptions... or a run game that averages 14 carries a game?

I get the move from a financial perspective. I might even get it from the perspective that they want their young WRs to get game reps, especially since they are more likely to play with Mahomes than Maclin was.

But the bottom line is that the 2017 Chiefs got worse today. No doubt about it. Now, I don't really care all that much, because I knew our odds of winning the SB this year were pretty much nil anyway.

Long term, its probably the right move. Short term, the Chiefs likely suffer.

This.

I hate it too. No really, I do. I believe every Chiefs fan should look forward to a day when his putrid name never be mentioned again. An entire season is a long time to circle the bowl, but at least the handle has been pushed and the flush of all things Smith has commenced.
