Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I agree, it's well known Fisher is stronger in run blocking than in pass protection. It's very much similar to what Pete Carroll put together in his SB run when he had an OL that was fantastic in the running game but horrible in pass protection (although he had the luxury of RW being a very mobile QB). The scheme fits Reid's philosophy...strong run game, average pass protection that is well-suited for a quick throwing offense.

It will be a great OL for Mahomes in 2018. Athletic, better at pass pro than run blocking. They will have started a couple years together by then. I can't wait! Can you Tigger!?

Only we suck at run blocking, and we drafted for pass pro guys, and they mostly suck at that as well...

We did last year but we excelled the other years. My hope is that Ehinger and Kareem bring us back to the glory days of shredding teams on the ground.

We return the exact same O line this year.

Other than hope and NFL weight programs there won't be much difference...

Watch what happens to our run blocking when Ehinger is our LG instead of Zach "glacier" Fulton.

Guy has a hell of an anchor, but if you ask him to move around, and you might be waiting a couple decades just for him to move about 10 yards

To be fair Fulton is excellent depth at C. That's all he should ever be.

Depth.

He simply did not progress... yet to the 2nd part of your post, the Chiefs were STILL the 3rd or 4th best team in the AFC.

It was a collaborative effort of poor run game, dropped passes, Reid's gameplan, and yes.. Smith's lack of progression (composure and aggression) that was the offense's undoing.

The talent is there though to win the SB. Smith, like most QBs, just needed better from those 4 aforementioned issues.

I wanted more for Smith, but frankly, it will be his own fault when he loses his job.

You say those things like they were small things or unknown things. He has the same limiting issues now he had in San Francisco. He never has consistently overcome them.

Pocket composure was a known issue for Smith before trading for him.

His checkdown tendencies were a known issue.

He is what he is and what he has been since 2011: A checkdown artist whose cowardice with the ball is easily exploitable by defense, but who will protect the ball well enough to be carried by his defense and running game, if they're good enough.

Why should any of us lobby for anything? We aren't running this football team, we are just fans.

When the coaching staff of the Kansas City Chiefs feel it's time to give Alex the boot and hand over the reigns to Mahomes, then good. And all of the evidence points to that being sooner rather than later. Them trading up in the draft, Smith's own admission etc. The writing is boldly written on the wall.

I'm not an Alex Smith hater like some here, and I mostly lurk on this forum...but shit man, even with my limited football knowledge even I can see it's time to move on from Smith. I'm thankful he participated in the playoff victory against Houston, but that's about it.

If the team implodes with Mahomes as our QB, then so be it...because we ain't winning shit with Smith.

No risk, No reward.

No.

If we take the risk we take the time to develop him properly.

I'm no Smith fan but in a perfect world 2PM doesn't play a single down for 2 years.

Rushing him in before he even has the basics down helps no one. It only insures failure...
