Has anyone ever been to the museum in New Orleans? We are thinking about taking the 12 hour drive down there this spring. We are taking our four year old and two year old. We were wanting to spend three days there with one of those days visiting the museum.

Figured we'd check out the aquarium as well and let my wife do some shopping. Is that area safe? Is it worth it to drive the 12 hours?

It's huge. I was there in January and allowed a full day, and it wasn't nearly enough time. If you really like to read and learn, it's probably three days, or if you're moderately interested it's two days. I was basically striding through rooms at the end of the day when I went, which was a shame.

Obviously you can go in a day, but you'd have to pick one area or two and ignore the rest.

So I should pay the extra $6 and get the second day pass. Have you been to the WWI museum in KC? Curious as to how it compares.

Don't know how it compares but the KC museum is awesome.

It's very well put together and I donated an old 8mm a few years ago that they have on display.

You should check it out.

I've never been to the KC museum, unfortunately.

The KC WW1 museum is freaking awesome! If anyone who lives in our around KC hasn't been, you should absolutely take the time to check it out. Well worth the sacrificed weekend.

It's amazing, So is the aquarium. We've been there several times as one of my Army buddies lives in Houma and we go for Mardi Gras about every other year. The museum and aquarium are absolutely worth the drive.

Im taking a 30 minute flight in a B17 at 4:00 CDT. Cost me $450. We surprised my dad with a flight as well. We’re in Dallas for the flight. We were supposed to take the B24 but it had an oil leak. Should be pretty sweet.

That area of town is safe With this caveat: it’s a southern city which can change dramatically from block to block. Safety is generally not an issue during the day but I’d stick to Uber at night. Take the kids for a ride on the St. Charles Street Car. If you are into military history, run out to Chamette battlefield (15 minute drive) to see where we won the battle of New Orleans. It’s free and informative.

I grew up down there. Last time I went it was still the D-day museum. Definitely worth it.
