Smith signs with Raiders
Raiders add cornerback Sean Smith
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 10, 2016, 7:55 AM EST Sean Smith AP The best available player in our Free Agent Hot 100 has been snapped up. Former Chiefs cornerback Sean Smith has agreed to a deal with the Raiders. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that it’s a four-year deal worth $40 million, with $20 million guaranteed. Heading into free agency, Smith was our No. 14 player available. The 13 ahead of him have all either signed a contract or been franchised. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...ck-sean-smith/ A 2009 second-round pick of the Dolphins, Smith played four seasons in Miami before signing a three-year, $18 million deal with the Chiefs in free agency. Now Smith is on his third team, and his third contract. Last edited by chiefforlife; 03-10-2016 at 07:05 AM.. Reason: adding Link |

So what type of defense does Oakland run nowadays? I highly doubt Smith will be able to just stick to one side of the field and body the receivers against the sideline like he preferred to in KC.
I'm smelling another Brandon Carr scenario where Smith will be forced to follow the offenses #1 guy, which isn't going to end up well for Faid fans. Not to mention how they will react when he drops half of his potential interceptions. |

Really?
I'd pull the chute on Heyward at $6 million. The Packers didn't run enough man coverage to convince me that he'll be able to press consistently well. $7 million's too rich for a gamble like that for me.

Hmmm.....
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...ble-free-agent This would seem to echo my concerns w/r/t Heyward - does he have the deep speed to play press-man for us? Look at Thomas torching his ass and then just pulling away. I worry that Heyward's a guy that would have to gamble a lot to be successful in this scheme and he'll lose some of those gambles because he lacks the recovery speed to save himself when he guesses wrong. I just don't see him as a safe enough bet due to scheme fit issues. I'd have a hard time giving him that $7 million and honestly I may not even like him at my original $6 million figure.

Heyward seems like a slot only guy to me.
It would either be prince outside, a draft pick, or Gaines. Gaines may actually have the best ability to play out there. |

I hope Dorsey has another Marcus Peters up his sleeve in the draft this year.

Fuller's injury will scare some teams off (like Peters' suspension) but a lot of folks think he has the highest upside of any cover corner in the draft. It seems unlikely that he'd slide all the way to us, though. He just has a similar profile to Peters in that he's a risk/reward guy who could play great football from day 1 if that risk is overcome.

Wish we could have got him signed but after all his teammates re-signed for reasonable amounts to keep it together he must be a real douche for not following suit. Can't wait for his next DUI.

He had some rough games this past season (in particular the Ohio State game against Thomas), but he was suposedly playing on an injured knee. In the few games I watched from 2014, he looked much better. |

That's a pretty high avg for Fuller. Must take a lot of chances.
