VARSITY
***Official 2014 STL Cardinals thread part II***
Original thread was getting to large for the board

2011 WS Championship
2012 one win from another WS
2013 two wins from another WS title
2014 Central Division title and NLCS series win (so far)

This is a franchise that has made the postseason 10 times in the last 14 seasons.

Only 1 losing season since 2000.

Reached the World Series 4 times since 2004 and won as many championships (two) the past eight seasons as it did from 1965 to 2005.

Our new Manager has more post season experience than any other manager in baseball, except the Giants manager.

Made the NLCS 8 times

Three million attendance? Take it to the bank.

60 post season wins since 2004. 20+ wins more than any other team.

It's unusual that a team has AJ Pierzynski and John Lackey and they are only the 5th and 6th biggest assholes in the series.

The question rests entirely around Craig's foot. The Cardinals' team doctors have been incompetent across regimes. If they ****ed up the original treatment plan for his Lis Franc and he gets it sorted out this offseason, the Red Sox got a guy who is going to hit fifth for them for 4-5 years and be one of the better hitters in baseball for a fair price.

If Craig's foot is truly ****ed and he experiences other age-related decline, then it is a complete heist for dumping the salary alone.

Still even if Craig's foot is healed, you have a glut of outfielders the majority of which are on the cheap. Just a numbers and business move that needed to be made.

That is correct. However, Matt Adams is a pretty fungible 1B whose real value in his cost control.
