***Official 2014 STL Cardinals thread part II***
Original thread was getting to large for the board

2011 WS Championship
2012 one win from another WS
2013 two wins from another WS title
2014 Central Division title and NLCS series win (so far)

This is a franchise that has made the postseason 10 times in the last 14 seasons.

Only 1 losing season since 2000.

Reached the World Series 4 times since 2004 and won as many championships (two) the past eight seasons as it did from 1965 to 2005.

Our new Manager has more post season experience than any other manager in baseball, except the Giants manager.

Made the NLCS 8 times

Three million attendance? Take it to the bank.

60 post season wins since 2004. 20+ wins more than any other team.

Taveras can be a Holliday-esque OF'er. If you move him to first, you destroy his value, because that is a position where average production is .280 w/ 20-25 HRs. That's elite production for a COF.

Unless our offense wakes the **** up, its going to be an easy series for you.

Our pitching can hang with yours but your offense will score a run or two and thats all it will need. Looks like the year you get past us. Reverse mojo intended.

Historically, we have beat the Dodgers in playoff series way more than we have lost. !985, 1987, 2004, 2011. 3 out of the 4 victories were in the NLCS to advance to the World Series. The only loss is 2009.

Pirates Win the Division Outright

The Cardinals go 0-3 vs. Arizona and the Pirates go 3-1 or 4-0.

Cardinals Win the Division Outright

The Cardinals go 3-0 (and it doesn’t matter how Pittsburgh finishes because they're eliminated).
The Cardinals finish 2-1 and the Pirates go either 3-1, 2-2, 1-3, or 0-4.
The Cardinals conclude 1-2 and the Pirates finish either 2-2, 1-3, or 0-4.
The Cardinals wrap things up by losing all three against the Diamondbacks and the Pirates go either 1-3 or 0-4.
In point of fact, it doesn’t matter what the Cards do if the Pirates finish either 1-3 or 0-4.

Cardinals and Pirates Tie

The Cards finish 0-3 and the Pirates go 2-2.
The Cardinals go 1-2 and the Pirates finish 3-1.
The Cardinals conclude 2-1 and the Pirates go 4-0.
Any of these three scenarios will result in a Central division tiebreaker at Busch Stadium because the Cardinals bested the Pirates in the teams’ head-to-head season series.
