2014-2015 NBA off-season Lebron goes home thread.

I will update this when the schedule is announced in a couple of weeks, but I will open with the new uniforms for the Charlotte Hornets below.

LeBron almost won by himself last year. I'm sorry, but Wade is a washed up has been. And I'm also sorry, but Bosh is so far from a max player I don't even know what to say. They keep saying "oh well he does this! and this! and this!" Maybe I don't know what I'm watching, but I literally considered him their weakest link two years ago the entire postseason and this year he became a 3 point specialist...uhm, what?

I think, with or without Wiggins or Love, LeBron is already better off with a young Kyrie than he was with Wade, Bosh and 7 45 year olds.

If I were running the Cavs, I simply wouldn't make a move for Kevin Love right now. I just don't think anyone is going to get a long term commitment from him as long as the Lebron option is out there.

That's not saying you will ultimately wind up with him in free agency, but I think you'd have as good or better shot as any team in the league.

And don't you dare say they don't have the cap room, because that's ridiculous.

Having said all of that... King's Coach K article is pretty damn convincing. If you can get Love to take his option, then you aren't trading for one season, but a guarantee of two. More than likely that is all but locking up back-to-back Finals appearances.

You probably can't beat the Spurs this year with that team, but next year? The chance of that Spurs core breaking up is probably a lot higher than we realize. Duncan retires, Ginobili takes his payday going to a contender...

You could legitimately bring a title to Cleveland within two years. That's worth more than the promise of Wiggins being a perennial all star for 15 years. One title and Cleveland is no longer a punchline. Lebron is a god. Wiggins is a distant memory.

Yeah... that's worth it.

I am convinced.

I think Ginobili is more likely to retire than Duncan as he has not held up as well and won't be getting another big pay day.

When I say "pay day" I mean more like "I'm gonna take a check for a year even though I probably won't do shit."

More of a cash grab than pay day.

I really don't see anyone offering him another contract. IIRC he has 2 more years on this contract, he'll be 38 then.

Edit: 1 year left on his contract and he will be 37. I don't see anyone giving him another deal.

Which again raises the question... What if they don't win in 2 years? If the cavs trade for love, the team will get worse every year. They'll keep losing young talent one by one and have no draft or cap means to replace it. LeBron can carry a team but this team is going to be really young. We have no idea if they are built to win this soon especially against an extremely competitive West, spurs or no spurs.

I agree with this. I don't agree with betting the farm on Love for the Cavs if I was a Cavs fan.

I do agree with a Boris Diaw and Matt Bonner and 1st round draft picks for Love for the Spurs though

Wiggins is so talented that be can make several huge plays with defenses focusing on James and Irving. If you single cover James, Irving, Waiters, or Wiggins they can make you pay. Even Bennett if he plays anything like he did in college or like he has been this summer.

The #Warriors don;t want to break up their top-five defense to acquire Kevin Love #NBA

Which raises the question....what if Wiggins never lives up to his potential? What if he's nothing more than a role player or just a above average starter? What if after waiting 2-3 years to groom Wiggins, LeBron's body starts breaking down from the high mileage and they haven't won a ring yet?

With Wiggins, you're looking at a lot more "what if?" situations than with Love.

I would rather have multiple above average players who can play defense paired with James and Irving than just another All-Star who will underachive by default with James and Irving carrying the load, and not being the only good rebounder on the team anymore.
