A new baseball documentary is on Netflix, and it's AMAZING.
The Battered Bastards of Baseball, it's about Bing Russell, Kurt's dad, and his owning of the independent baseball team, the Portland Mavericks. It's great to see how they gave it to organized baseball. I'd never heard of it before, but it was a fun watch. I left it being pissed off at the greed of baseball, though. It's the real life Bad News Bears... ****ing great. I highly recommend spending 71 minutes watching it. |

We usually sat 3 or 4 rows behind all the regulars in RF. They heckled the opposing right fielders endlessly. And if they ever got them to turn around and look...

Again, more info on why we'd be probably lucky to get a few pouches of Big League Chew for trading Butler. Not that addition by subtraction couldn't end up being the best case scenario for getting his shitty bat out of the lineup as well as screwing up our use of speed on base for a slap single scoring offense...

Really good article on Gordo. Maybe if Hosmer emulated Alex a bit more he'd stop getting the Erica moniker, just like Alice got heckled for but put in the hard time to transform himself at the professional level...
Enjoy! http://dataomaha.com/documents/alex-...-of-left-field P.S. - if this is Q, don't care & fuk-Q * Also notice that the 2nd best LF has 34 to Alex's 66- just shy of doubling Soriano's runs saved. INCREDIBLE! Quote:

Exactly how I felt, and last night I was ticked thinking we had a game because I got a Google Now alert for some reason a day early.

Santa was pretty good. But the REAL RFGA icon was a guy named "The Top Cat". Older black man, whose real name I don't think I ever knew.
In those days right before the first pitch the RFGA would chant the names of the outfield (AC,AC,,AC then AO, AO, AO and WILLIE, WIIIIILLLLIE) until they acknowledged the crowd. The Top Cat was always getting freebies from the players. One night he got AO's cap and spikes. I talked to Willie Wilson about TTC when I went to spring training a few seasons back. He laughed and we traded stories and then he told me the Top Cat had passed away. RFGA had the best beer men also. Clem and Darcy. Both guys worked day jobs at Standard Oil back then and hustled "COLD BEER" (PBR in glass bottles) for 2$ at night and on weekends. They would let us in the beer locker on really hot days before the game. Its kind of scary to talk about these guys because I was teen when I met them. Them leaving the earth kind of makes me think of my own mortality. |

@Ken_Rosenthal: #Pirates, #Royals among teams that scouted #Padres’ Kennedy last night. Pirates looking for SP and RP. Royals keeping all options open.

I wanted them to get in on Kennedy in the offseason, as I'm sure a few people remember.
He's having a pretty good year in San Diego and would be a solid addition for KC. I think it makes sense for KC to look at another pitcher, if that's where the market is. Yes, the hitting needs help, desperately. But it's looking more and more like the bats that are available are not going to be major upgrades, and the pitching staff isn't bulletproof. With Zimmer now out of the plans for this year, you've got two young and very inexperienced SPs in Duffy and Ventura who might not be available for all of September. Guthrie has struggled a bit of late, and Vargas is currently hurt. More rotation depth wouldn't be a bad thing. Kennedy is also controlled for one more year, so you're looking at someone who can potentially help fill Shields rotation spot next year, too.

I hate to quote him, because he is a pompous ass but I was listening to Kevin Slaten in St. Louis and he said if you have pitching and defense you are always in it. I know we need a big bat but if you pitch well and defend well, we will be in it.
