Banter between Yost & Glass:

Quote:
The Royals success secrets have finally been revealed! They are winning because David Glass told them to win!

Ten days ago, Royals owner David Glass stood next to manager Ned Yost behind the batting cage at Kauffman Stadium and jokingly said, "You know, Ned, it's OK to win every game."

Yost's response, of course, was more practical. "He tried to explain differently to me," Glass said, smiling. Funny thing is, the Royals haven't lost since that friendly exchange between owner and manager.

Apparently it is OK to win every game.

For those who might be quietly waiting for the bubble to pop, I think this is a good time to point out that this is the team that the scouts thought we were going to have.

I know we've been making depressed sometimes dismissive jokes about "the greatest farm system of all time", but a lot of these players who were disappointing for parts of last season and earlier this year did come with stellar minor league pedigrees, so if we're finally playing like a strong playoff team, well thats what we were expecting they would be 3 years or so ago. This isn't necessarily a surprising fluke that has no chance of lasting like 2003.

Yeah, that was my best Royals team in memory. I remember watching Cone 1-hit the A's with McGuire and Canseco. McGuire was the only hit. Would've loved seeing that team go to the playoffs and see how they did.

Hopefully this year, it happens......

I'll be at Lake of the Ozarks for a yearly trip with some friends... but plan to catch Monday and Wednesday games against the Doyers.

I remember the game I went to that year was the White Sox/Royals it was Monday Night Baseball game of the week. App vs. Jack McDowell. Pitchers duel, went into extras until Hamelin put one in the grass under the scoreboard. Just an awesome night.
