The almost, damn near close, just about there, midway point of 2024 NFL season.

So here we are, almost half way through the 2024 season already. Damn it has gone by so quick!

Time for some reflection from the CP experts.

- What were you right about, what were you wrong about?
- What has surprised you the most about the season so far?
- Who is your midway MVP, Rookie of the Year, Defensive player of the Year and Offensive player of the year?
- Who has been the biggest flops or disappointments?
- Do you like the new kickoff rule?
- Are the refs better, worse or the same ol same ol this year?
- Who is your Coach of the Year?
- Who is comeback player of the year?
- Which player have you given up on?
- Which team looks the strongest so far?
- Who do you like to watch and mock each week?
- Best catch of the year?
- is Tom Brady a good broadcaster?
- Unsung hero on the Chiefs?

Let's see where we go........

I’ve been most surprised by how good the Commanders are, how bad the Cowboys are, the Chiefs’ struggling passing game, and just generally the amount of injuries league wide.

MVP is Lamar Jackson, OPOY is Derrick Henry, ROY is Jayden Daniels, and DPOY is TJ Watt.

Biggest flops have to be the Cowboys and Jets.

New kickoff rule is OK with me. I don’t care much either way.

Coach of the Year has to go to Dan Campbell at the moment. KOC maybe as a runner up..?

Joe Burrow is Comeback Player of the Year.

I’ve given up on Travis Etienne. He is garbage.

Lions, Chiefs and Ravens look the strongest to me. It’s looking like a collision course between Detroit and one of either KC or Baltimore.

Best catch is either Garrett Wilson’s or Devonta Smith’s, both from this past weekend.

Tom isn’t terrible as a broadcaster but he’s unpolished. He’s not a good listen yet. I’m a bit surprised that Greg Olsen seems to have been a much more natural color guy.

Unsung hero on the Chiefs would be Noah Gray, I suppose. The defense is playing so well as a unit that it’s hard to focus on one guy for praise above others over there.

- What were you right about, what were you wrong about? I was right about Baker being better than Tua, AR, CJ STroud, TL, Hurts, Dak, Jordan Love, Kyler, Geno, Purdy. I also thought LAC would be much improved, and they are. I was wrong about CIN and PIT. Had them flipped in the standings. Last, but not least, I thought NYJ would be a playoff team, lol.

- What has surprised you the most about the season so far? WAS is a legitimate playoff contender. Sam Darnold is actually a decent NFL QB.

- Who is your midway MVP, Rookie of the Year, Defensive player of the Year and Offensive player of the year? MVP: Jayden Daniels , ROY: Jayden Daniels, DPOY: TJ Watt , OPOY: Saquon Barkley

- Who has been the biggest flops or disappointments? Anthony Richardson, AR, JAX

- Do you like the new kickoff rule? Overall, yes. We're getting more returns and it seems like every week we're seeing a few wild/exciting ones

- Are the refs better, worse or the same ol same ol this year? Somehow I think they're worse.

- Who is your Coach of the Year? McVay.

- Who is comeback player of the year? Sam Darnold

- Which player have you given up on? Aaron Rodgers

- Which team looks the strongest so far? DET

- Who do you like to watch and mock each week? NYG, CLE, and Bo Nix

- Best catch of the year? DRob's one-hander last night

- is Tom Brady a good broadcaster? He's improved since Week1, but no. He doesn't bring anything we don't get from anyone else

- Unsung hero on the Chiefs? Skyy Moore for going on IR. Jk, probably missing someone, but I'm going with Leo Chenal.

Off the cuff without thinking about it too much, these are my picks.

-What were you right about, what were you wrong about?
Right about the Cowgirls, wrong about the Steelers and Tomlin AGAIN.
Right about the Jets, wrong about the Bears

- What has surprised you the most about the season so far?
The magnitude of injuries across all teams and so many stars.

- Who is your midway MVP, Rookie of the Year, Defensive player of the Year and Offensive player of the year?
MVP - Goff
DPOY - Chris Jones
OFPOY - Alvin Kamara
Rookie of the Year - Jayden Daniels

- Who has been the biggest flops or disappointments?
Jags, Dolphins, Jets, Bears all flops

- Do you like the new kickoff rule?
I'm growing to like it and I'm a little surprised by that.

- Are the refs better, worse or the same ol same ol this year?
Overall better but their mistakes are so egregious and bad.

- Who is your Coach of the Year?
Dan Quinn, Commanders

- Who is comeback player of the year?
Derrick Henry

- Which player have you given up on?
Skyy Moore and Trevor Lawrence

- Which team looks the strongest so far? Detroit Lions in NFC amd Ravens in AFC

- Who do you like to watch and mock each week?
Aaron Rodgers and Jets or Cowboys and Dak. Both pretenders not contenders.

- Best catch of the year?
Garrett Wilson Jets

- is Tom Brady a good broadcaster?
Not bad but could improve

- Unsung hero on the Chiefs?
Tershawn Wharton

I don't see how the passing game has been a surprise with the insane number of injuries. Maybe the injuries are a surprise, but I'd say that the Chiefs' general offensive competency despite the injuries is more of a surprise to me

Lol, funny we both picked Jayden Daniels for both MVP/ROY. Araiza is a great pick.

Well when Hollywood went down it was annoying but what remained was mostly the same WR corps we steamrolled the league with in the playoffs plus Xavier Worthy. Even until Rice went down, the passing game didn’t look great. LT is basically a revolving door and Pat didn’t look comfortable for probably the first month of the season. Now, he’s seemed to have settled down a bit and the offense is actually pretty good overall, but the passing game in general isn’t what it’s typically been in KC.

I’m not too worried about it but it is something. I thought Mahomes was going to have another MVP type of season.
