Meh. They'll be tradeable soon. Some of these teams would love some championship pedigree. Cap goes up every year.

We’ll be fine
The "Money Freed up" isn't what you think it is, though.

We're at 27th in available cap next season.

Granted, We can free up a whole hell of a lot by moving on from Taylor and restructuring Mahomes again, but every time we kick that Mahomes can, things get a little tighter the following season.

Moreover, that's WITHOUT Karlaftis and McDuffie. And without Trey Smith, for that matter. And only 25 guys on the active roster.

We're gonna do this dance very season for the foreseeable future. The idea that money is just going to start raining down on us at some point is just folly.

But I could about double that figure with rollover money but just not keeping Smith THIS season. And then use that to get McDuffie and/or Karlaftis locked in long-term. Both of whom are guys who play premium positions at a very high level.

I don't believe Trey Smith is any better at his job than Karlaftis is at his. And I know he's not as good at his job as McDuffie is at his.

Someday we're gonna have to make a Tyreek Hill style trade with someone else we have on this roster and if we do so and DON'T hit that return out of the park, we're gonna feel a hell of a pinch from it. And while Veach is damn good at this, nobody's perfect. He's gonna miss sooner or later (as he did with MEH, FAU and Skyy). And when that happens with the return we got for Karlaftis because we had to deal him after extending Trey Smith, folks aren't gonna be as sanguine about these decisions.

I think Furious George is better at his position than Trey Smith is at his. Just my opinion...But you're spot on here.
