Later, Chiefsplanet

The Mods around here have finally pissed me off to the point where I can no longer be a member at Chiefsplanet.

I'm happy to have met some nice people over the years who I call friends and will continue to call friends. You all know how to reach me.

To the rest, **** off and die.

Later.

Who cares if minds are changed?

Does it change the fact, that for the most part, the guy has been an uber smegma the last few years?

Does it change the fact that he made the ultimate bitch move of "if the mods don't give me my way, I'm leaving"?

He's way too insecure not to be reading these posts, so just ask him to send you a pm.

If you can't handle some Raiders troll calling you names, you should take a timeout and get your life in order. Apparently that's what "Dane" is doing, so good for him.

It's not a direct thing.

http://chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthrea...light=satriani

It's a slightly lengthy read, but it shows how Dane was initially convinced that Satriani was guaranteed 50% of Coldplay's royalties, then was convinced that it was a tough case, then was convinced that Satriani's case was completely meritless.

The letter of the law states "Lyrics and Melody". The melodies are nearly identical throughout, as is the tempo and arrangement. That is NOT accidental.

Furthermore, while don't think this is "intentional", it did happen. Chris Martin probably heard the Satriani song in passing years ago, only to write his version years later. A lot of times, composers don't understand where the "music comes". I'm sure he wrote it not realizing that he'd heard that melody and song at some point in years past.

Regardless, I'd be shocked if the judge didn't award 50% of the royalties and copyright credit to Joe Satch.

No worries, Dude.

As I stated in my first response, proving plagiarism is extremely difficult. Extremely. Joe Satriani's people will have to somehow prove that Chris Martin and/or anyone in Coldplay actually heard Joe's song.

And as I stated earlier, Chris Martin may have heard this song in passing years ago, only to unintentionally use the same melody for their song.

It's a difficult case for sure.

And with all due respect to you and DJ, I'll take the word of my lawyer friends that deal with these issues over than those that are less familiar with them.
And anyone [in this case at least two people who have actually taken the effort to take law school level and CLE [continuing legal education] courses, and get IP [intellectual property] certification] who had anything else to contribute were 'clueless about the actual industry' goings and comings, because he's had conversations with real actual Hwood attorneys.

Then in passive-aggressive mode, he took the stance 'Hey I understand you know the law, but I KNOW HOLLYWOOD and the INDUSTRY. Thanks for the reasonable conversation even though you're dead wrong.' THEN he spent the next couple years starting every argument with 'is this another instance of how I totally schooled you guys on how copyright works?' This, on the basis that the Satriani case settled out of court with no terms disclosed, which could have followed from ANYONE'S take on the situation.

Me neither.

In fact, when I made it planet knowledge that I had a big family loss and was about to enter a battle that I didnt know much about...he was the first one to offer a helping hand and advice going forward.

From a guy that I didn't know personally, I thought that was incredible and I wont forget it.

The bottom line is this, almost anything goes here, everyone has said it a million times & i've chimed in my fair share. The wild & wooly dynamic of the Planet is its biggest draw, i lurked a few other boards before committing to the Planet & they were just too tame, i wanted to get in here & mix it up with the rest of the hooligans.

Dane & others flamethrowing ways are something people just need to either A) get used to B) fire back at, or C) run away to the Coalition. Has he revealed a thin skin? sure, but i'd venture that most here have at one time or another. The only way to 'win' here is to tell'em all to kiss your ass & then, most importantly, prove (impossible here, but ya gotta try) to them why they're wrong.

Danes general smarts, entertainment insider knowledge & shit stirring antics help keep this place interesting. R8er? well, this is America after all & if he wants to hang out over in the corner, so be it.

The mods arent changing anything, so why not forget this crap & move on.

Personally, I find a judicious use of the vB ignore function to be an incredible help to improve my entertainment here. Yeah, I may miss out on a thread or two, but for the most part, I really don't give a crap about what they're posting about anyway.

Some of you just don't get it.

Dane's flame throwing ways aren't really the issue.

Dane's hissy fit and subsequent leaving over someone else's flame throwing ways is just a prime example of the hypocrite that he was down to his core. At least his internet core.

He has been as shitty to more people here than any wrong he was ever done.

DaFace already pointed out the only reason he didn't get around to giving R8Ters an infraction is before he could even look into it Dane had left him several shitty PM's.

I got an idea, if you are getting pissed, get up and walk away from the computer for a while. The whole thing is laughable.

On the contrary, i'm pretty sure i get it... yes, Dane let himself fall victim to a variation of his own shit stirring & came out looking like a big hypocrite. But by the same token, a lot of people have come out to air their grievances about 'Dane saying this to me for no good reason & saying that for no good reason'. He's ripped me a few times, but after a few days i always end laughing about it to myself & how i got so worked up over some shit on the internet.

I mean, this is the Planet, if you dont have the verbage & wit to defend yourself, you prolly dont belong here.

Dane lost some face here IMO, but he's still a solid CP member. R8er is a troll, lets not kid ourselves, but again, this is ChiefsPlanet & as long as he shows up & doesnt cross the very few taboo lines in place here, then he's welcome as well.

This conflagration is the most interesting event of the off season thus far... without all of the hotheads, bullies, snipers, trolls, brainiacs & political partisans constantly butting heads, this place would suck.

I've let this thread slip by and haven't read it from about post 1095 or so, but I need to say this...

An opinion I shared about Dane success was taken out of context in that it was a reason some people didn't like him. What I meant was people had tried to pile on him BECAUSE of his success, and he just never backed down, which other people found to be abrasive in the way he defended himself.

Dane has never been anything but super cool with me, even on stuff we disagreed about. Never had any kind of problems with him, ever.
