Anybody remember Jeff Linkenbach?

Yeah, that’s who Caliendo reminds me of

Everybody that wants to draft a LT in this draft needs to understand that you're basically going to be drafting...Kingsley Sumaitia. You want to give up multiple picks to do that? And said player will either not play in year one or not play well in year one. Period. Any other result is EXTREMELY unlikely.

So all of you guys that think Kingsley is 'trash' and a 'wasted pick' and that we just need to get the 'right guy' should forget about that. We're not getting into the top 15, and if we did that in THIS draft, we're probably STILL not getting a ready to go starting LT. So we'll have a THIRD project OT. I don't know about YOU, but I think trying to develop THREE is maybe not the best plan.

And for the opportunity to draft ANOTHER project OT, we will give up the opportunity to draft immediate upgrade level talents at DT, DE, CB, or RB. That's where the talent in this draft can fall to us.

SO, I don't think it's smart to give up on Kingsley, and I don't think he's a guard long-term. But I don't think you can just hand it to him and hope for the best this year either.

Get a stop-gap or pay Jackson in which case, you groom Kingsley for RT in '26 when you can cut Taylor. Morris looks like a G to me, always has. He'd probably be a really good one.

but that's all just my opinion.

If Morris looks like a G to you and always has, doesn't sound like we've already taken 2 project OTs. Morris at the very least never was a LT, maybe a RT. So you're suggesting taking KS and leaving it be at OT is the answer? Even if another day 1/2 OT is just another Suamataia you're throwing numbers at the position and ideally have multiple affordable options for the near future.

If they're able to sign Jackson then that's great, but that's a big IF. If he's not available or signs elsewhere?

As I stated before, KC struck out so to speak with Moore and to a lesser degree with Hardman. Where was the clamor that we had already drafted enough project WRs and needed to go the FA route? They kept throwing numbers at the position until it started to work out. FA WRs who are any good are expensive, so are OTs. You can't necessarily just buy your way out of this mess at OT unless you get lucky and Jackson becomes available at the right price.

With the caveat that I'm not suggesting a huge reach and forcing an OT if it simply doesn't work out, at the end of the day it's a vastly more important position to this team than DE, DE, CB, LB, etc. If the defense falls off then so be it. If we **** up again at LT and the offense continues to suffer and/or Mahomes gets injured or irreparably damaged (either physically or mentally) then this team's future is ****ed. We can get by in the short term with a drop off in talent on defense. They already went all-in on defense in 2022 and have allowed the talent on offense to fall off, even if the strength of this draft is in positions like DL I don't see how you don't find a way to heavily address the offense, namely OL and RB.

It doesn't really matter what Morris looks like TO ME, does it? I just think he's got heavy guard legs. But what do I know? At any rate, you currently have two project OT's that maybe can develop, maybe not. I'm not opposed to drafting OL, or even another tackle project but I wouldn't move up to get one, and I wouldn't consider it a priority because you're already trying to develop two and there are only so many reps to go around.

So unless the staff is out on Kingsley I wouldn't add more questions to the mix.

But again, we don't know what they'll do.

and I'm absolutely FOR addressing offense, especially LT and RB.

I just wouldn't go out of my way to draft another LT project. Sign one in FA, or sign a stop-gap vet and develop the guys you're already working on and move Kingsley to RT for '26.

Use the strength of the draft. Draft DL and RB.

Kingsley will be right guard and Morris will be right tackle. I can see Veach drafting two o linemen who will eventually be left tackle and guard.

What logic currently makes you think Morris is more of a tackle than Kingsley?

I thought that too, but I looked it up and apparently Wanya weighs less, is a little taller, and has longer arms than Kingsley. He had a slightly better vert and long jump too.

Because they played Kingsley at guard and Morris was at right tackle and they both looked much better than they did at left tackle. Also Veach is going to want a close to sure thing at left tackle going into training camp.

I guess maybe its true but it does not look that way on film to me. Kinsley looked a lot more nimble. Wanya looks forced into a kick step. Kingsley gets there he just seems to not be able to get there and get hands on. Like step ones complete. Now step two. Oh shit Hendrickson's gone. Instead of a natural 1,2,3 process.

They were throwing shit against the wall. I wouldn't put too much stock in who played where last year. It was a big experiment.

Which worked out about as well as mixing bleach with ammonia, as it turns out.

I really don't want to give up on the kid at OT. At the very least he should be a good replacement for Taylor if we need to free up the money next season.

Morris is a guy who can look good at RG while showing the same issues that might create headaches for him at OT. But Kingsley, because of his traits, is just as likely to be a viable OT as OG over the long-term because it isn't a traits problem.

It's an experience problem.

So get him some experience. I absolutely believe this kid can be our version of Alaric Jackson if we aren't so hell-bent on giving up on that.
Exactly this. Sure, everyone wanted plug and play, but that was never really in the cards. He has the traits; we simply need to be patient.

People want answers now, and the Super Bowl only made it worse. They'll be disappointed when its Humphries and Kingsley in a camp battle.
