Someone close to the inner mod circle made it clear that he isn't to be messed with regardless....

People can't stand Alex Smith, just like they couldn't stand Matt Cassel and just like they won't be able to stand the next QB or the next.

Case in point:

Talking Can, long time poster, doesn't really post that much, makes one of his usual, innocuous, and generally harmless comments in a GDT, and BOOM; banned from the thread and "leaves CP forever", complete with the "Leaving Forever"-thread.

Guy was a good poster and worth twice Tigger's weight in gold, as when he would post something it was usually with perfect timing and drove the current topic/point home in way that was funny as all hell(to me anyway, your mileage may vary).

So, when Tigger then today comes on to the board and makes his dramatic case about long-time posters leaving due to whatever CP has "become" in his eyes, he's 100% correct.

And they left because of HIM.

Mod abuse has been occuring on this board is minor fashion since it's conception. Mostly it's minor things like unwanted name changes and temp 1 hour bans etc.

The only reason it's being brought up in such a serious fashion now is because of the fury over tiger. Don't try to make this about anything other than another campaign to get Tiger banned.

This. I still say positive things about Alex when he deserves it, but I have calluses from being here for 15 years. No thin skin for me.

I am not an Alex hater. I think he is and has been our best chance to win for a long time. That doesn't mean that I can't realize what his short comings are and post about them without getting a ban from the GDT because posting that is "bashing" and Tigger can't handle it and goes crying to the mods. As I understand he has been doing that constantly about the treatment of Smith.

I have rage-posted about Alex Smith doing shitty stuff without getting so much as a warning or a word. Since we traded for Alex Smith,
tons of people have trashed Smith is virtually every thread in existence. I haven't heard of a single ban for it.

Pestilence can't go 5 posts without some kind of backhanded bitch about Alex Smith. He's never gotten in any trouble about it. JasonsAuto HATESSSSS Alex Smith ... nothing. There are tons of of posters raging on this board who only post about one thing ... their hate of all-things Alex. I haven't heard of a single ban.

You do understand that I was referring to bans from the GDTs only not from the site as a whole.
Bob Dole said specifically that he banned Clay for wishing injury on Smith. I seen the post myself. No I can't remember the thread but Pest can repeatedly do the same thing and.....nothing. I am not saying Bob was right or wrong for what he did. I will say that if one poster can or does get banned for something then any and all posters that do the same behavior should be treated the same/equally.
