I'm not shitting on Alex Smith, but a winning record does not a successful QB make. There are tons of QBs out there with fantastic W-L records over specific stretches of their careers who simply weren't ever very good players.

49ers fans are always commenting on Kaep news articles that trading him away led to the locker room instability and their eventual downfall. It was his replacing with kaepernick that broke all trust with the coach and management.

I'm going to credit these performances as to why the 49ers and Chiefs have won 8+ games in those seasons because I've been told that San Francisco had terrible offensive lines and skill position play outside of running backs and the Chiefs have been mediocre at best along the offensive line and at receiver.

I live a few hours North of Sac. The vast majority of people up here are either 9er or Raider fans. The 9er fans were really happy when Kap took over. They thought he was the next big thing, a playmaker that would put them over the hump with a strong D and running game. Their thinking was that Harbaugh had built a very strong conventional team and he was sort of the Wild Card that could play off of that. Now that the team is playing like shit they'd rather have someone like Smith to get back to basic fundamental football. Right now when ever you hear a niner fan complain it's almost always about Baalke or York all there problems to them lead back to those 2.
