Is it to offset the credit card's charge to the restaurant? I see that every once in a while now, where they say there's a 3% extra charge on credit card transactions, which sadly negates any credit card rewards you get for using it.

No. It's to do with dickhead restaurant owners pocketing the tips. Essentially you are left hoping that the restaurant distributes the money to it's workers, but in my experience that often doesn't happen, especially in places with immigrant workers.

What sort of shady establishments do they have over there? Wage theft (management or ownership pocketing tips) is a crime. Does it happen ever? Of course. But enough to where the servers at any decent place would stick around? Nah. If I pay with a card, I’m gonna tip with that card.

Imagine being gullible enough to believe that your card tips are always 100% given to the employees.

If it's a crime I guess it doesn't happen then... You lot are very trusting.

We’re also a bit better at reading comprehension. I said it does happen. Just not as much as you make it seem. Tons of crimes happen all the time. The government mishandles tons of money I send them, I’m guessing. I still pay taxes. If a server doesn’t feel they are getting fair tips and continues to work at a place, that’s not my problem. It says where to fill in the tip, and I do. What happens after that is not my concern.

Also, to be honest, this is a shitty “life tip”. I recommend CP fires you as it’s life coach.

You're looking at it from your narrow minded perspective. Many people in the workplace are exploited to shit but they simply accept it because they are either naturally downtrodden or due to the circumstances they find themselves in, they can't get another job easily. If you don't care then fine, but some here might and this advice is for them.

I know it happens a lot here and this is a country with far more workplace regulations than yours. And don't come at me with some dumbass 'people from the US know their worth more than the Brits' statement if you're going to say that it's not the same where you are.

I also genuinely don't care if you think my life tips are shitty. I'ma keep posting them, dickhead.

Also I don't know why you brought taxes into this. Taxes aren't optional, tipping is. But I bet you're cool with being scammed out of your money.

Does anyone even carry cash anymore to even have the ability to tip servers?

I carry cash. Had a couple of times where the card readers of the stores I went to stopped working. Once I was out and my bank stopped all transactions because some person in Indonesia tried to buy a sofa (lol) using my card details. Also I once lost my card out whilst pissed. Cash was useful then.

Exactly. Main reason. Don't want to be pirated.

Main reason: if you tip using electronic that gets recorded. They then have to claim it on taxes at the end of the year. Cash they don't.
