It’s on the entire franchise. Unfortunately a lot of that will always fall on the QB, which is why I said “fair or not”.

Andy traded away Alex at his peak with another year left on his deal in an effort to go with this kid. That says everything. There are no questions about this.

I don’t get why some of you are being scared pussies about this? Veach clearly agrees with me. He ****ing said the guy was one of the most talented players he has EVER seen. No one provoked him to say that.

And Andy? He’s clearly excited, more than we have ever seen him. Good ol’ Mark Donovan even blabbered about how Andy’s chub hasn’t gone down since the Denver game.

You are a fool if you don’t think that these guys are expecting to do better this year and for this kid to break the doors off of this league. The quotes, the excitement, the ****ing weapons on this goddamn offense.

FFS our staff is telling people around the league that this kid is going to rape the league and they know he will.

Who said anything about this being a learning year?

I just feel saying it’s playoff win or bust in his first year is stupid. There are too many factors that go into that to put it all on a first year starter at QB.

Problem is going to be the QB contract stuff and how that always plays out. Look at the Seahawks. You've gotta make hay while the sun is shining. While he's on his cheap rookie deal, they've gotta be winning. If he's as good as everyone hopes, once that QB deal comes due, it gets a lot tougher.

I understand that, but what the difference between winning a playoff game, just making the playoffs, or even just missing out if you aren’t going to win a SB? Hell, even if we misty out on the playoffs I can look at the bright side and say we’ll have a better draft pick to make a push those last 3 years. We all know we likely aren’t winning it all this year, so let’s just hope for above average play and flashes of brilliance from our first year starter.

We all knew in the offseason the this team was likely still a year away. Let’s hold off on the lofty expectations till 2019/2020.

There's a lot you can learn on the field that he couldn't off. And he still had to figure out how to put all the things he learned last year into action. So yes this is still a learning year except he'll be learning on the field and from his own mistakes than from Alex's mistakes.

It's a young team and I think there's something to learning to win and being accustom to winning in high pressure situations.

Again, look at Seattle. That first year, tough loss in the divisional round to Atlanta, never looked back.

We've pushed back lofty expectations year after year. They may not win a SB this year, but having that as a goal isn't a bad thing. Too much changes year to year.

For me, a play-off win is my expectation.

If we're being pragmatic, KC essentially added Berry, Ford, Morse, Ware, Watkins, Miller, Fuller and Hitchens for 2018...that's not taking into account if any rookies/2nd year players make a discernible difference. That's 7 starters + Ware...

Chiefs should be better this year...even with Mahomes growing pains.

If that's the case, he needed 2 years before he was NFL ready?

That's not gonna be ideal.

Isn't that what most people expected? And he's NFL ready now. Just not ready for the expectations people are throwing around. It's still his first year starting. People are talking about 30+ TDs and playoff wins already. As good as he can be, it's still ridiculous to have those expectations his first year starting.
