*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Why are we comparing a 22 year old man to a 34 year old veteran?

Alex Smith was straight garbage at 22. Alex Smith couldn't move the ball against Tennessee when we needed it the most. His absence is a welcome change

Bring on Mahomes

It's stupid because I would never expect any QB to make that kind of throw with perfect accuracy.

But Mahomes gets full credit for it because he actually attempts it, completes it, and creates a positive gain for his receiver because he does things other QBs won't, or can't.

Smith was the anti scoring machine. He did well last year going long to Hill but our red zone percentage was still crap and bottom of the league. Hes fools gold. Mahomes will increase out scoring a ton.

Amen, we both know it's a big part of this offensive scheme.

hence that...'his touch will get better'.

The Chiefs got in the playoffs 4/5 years with Alex and they just traded him and said it wasn’t good enough.

They think they can go farther with Mahomes. That is the expectation.

The hype on this board is off the charts. Which is historically normal of ANY 1st round rookie QB. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, because the organization clearly trusts him or they wouldn't have moved on from Alex Smith so fast, but he very well could be Jay Cutler. We don't know how he will react under the lights, versus NFL defenses.

His problem won't be throwing TDs or being aggressive. He's going to be good if he limits his interceptions. That is literally going to be it for him. He could be a chucker who is too aggressive and struggles to make the right decision. It's very possible. It's also possible he's the next Brett Farve or Ben Roethlisberger. We just don't know. But at least, he has a high ceiling. That is all you can ask.

Way too many variables to just say a playoff win is the only acceptable outcome. Its not 100% on Mahomes.
