Joke from that Chef's forum regarding the super sizing and other breeding of chickens for market.

Quote:
We were driving down a country road one day and a chicken ran past us.

I stopped and asked the farmer why the chicken ran so fast. He explained the need for more legs for the average family dinner. He had developed a breed that had three legs.

I asked him how do they taste?

He replied "I don't know I can't catch one."

I've searching for a straight-sided lasagne pan that is deeper than a couple of inches. But they're hard to find—unless you're feeding an army. I want something smaller like 8X10 so I can bake three different kinds: Vegetarian (various vegetables) with Alfredo sauce topped with Bechamel sauce; Spinach and ricotta, topped with Mozzarella; My family's Meat/Sausage with Ricotta and topped with Mozzarella.

I thought 3" was pretty high without falling over or being too hard to handle without it falling apart. I would go 4" though. Did she have to put a stake through it to keep it up?

I bought this 3 lasagnes in one pan this summer but returned it as it was not per the height advertises and the walls were too tapered.

https://www.amazon.com/Chicago-Metal...agna+pan&psc=1

Then I found a place that can make custom pans. I might go there if I still wind up empty handed. There was a cake pan that was 3" high but it was aluminum which I won't cook with—though I could line it with parchment. It'd be easier to take out too. Maybe in a pinch.

Now, why didn't that come up when I was searching?

That's a nice pan. I must be going blind because I don't see the dimensions. I do have a roaster already, that I've considered but it's huuuuuuuge. I use it for holiday dinners with family. So it's like 1-2x year.

I see one on the bottom that has straighter sides. It's huuuuuuuuge though.

I am looking at that pan more closely and the interior ends where the handles fold-in, has n indent. They must think you won't make your lasagne to the top of the pan.

Yeah! That's the one I was looking at. Nice straight size; great depth. It's large but I would buy that if making it for a crowd or just a few with lots left to freeze afterwards. Not a bad price either.

I'd look at that in person as I bet it is so thin it "pops" when heating up and cooling down.
