With their final pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Jay Ross, NT, East Carolina. The mid fifth is decent value for Ross, although he is the Ron Brace to Linval Joseph's B.J. Raji.
I don't know if he can be a Jamal Williams type NT, but at the very least, he can be a serviceable rotation player, and the Chiefs absolutely have to get better up the middle.

Hard not to love the potential of that defense. The secondary could be the best in NFL in a couple of years.

Instant reaction to the Witten and Ross additions?

I'm the most skeptical about the DT position.

This kid is what he is.....a slot receiver in the NFL. The 49ers already have their #1 and #2 receivers in Crabtree and Morgan. What they don't have is that slot receiver that can go over the middle. Yeah they have Vernon Davis but he's more of a stretch the field type TE.
The San Francisco 49ers select Jordan Shipley, WR, University of Texas. |

Witten -- good pick. Me likey and the value is strong.
Ross is a shitty pick. I don't even know if that guy can man the nose. The only reason anybody cares about him is because Linval Joseph made that defense. I don't like any defensive players from EC -- I think they're all elevated because Joseph tore shit up. But that's why I would have taken Cody with the 2a. Because otherwise you end up in the 5th with a shitty nose. |

By the way, I totally think Mecca's critique of Angerer is fair. Although I doubt he's watched as much Angerer as I, and I think he's underestimating him.
If I had that pick back I probably would have gone with the ILB from Baylor whose name escapes me. |

The Detroit Lions most glaring need is in the secondary. I've added Devin McCourty in the second round but more needs to be done. This kid was hurt this past season and missed several games. Good thing for Detroit or else he would have been off the board by now. He did play in the Rose Bowl and was an absolute beast
The Detroit Lions select from Oregon strong safety T.J. Ward. Taking a que from Deez, I'm going to pm myself. |

Thanks for the pm, self.
The NYG have a starting qb in Eli Manning. After him they don't have much. David Carr is a 49er and Jared Lorenzen is eating something sonewhere and Jim Sorgi is far from a quality backup. The NYG select from Fordham quarterback John Skelton. Now I really have to pm Deez. |

Offensive line depth is needed. Thus, the Titans select:
Matt Tennant, C, Boston College |
