The entire system should be pro-player and enable players to maximize their earning potential. For decades the system was designed in a way that ****ed over players. I think the bigger issue is the transfer windows.

Coaches all the time back out of agreements to be coordinators to go to a bigger school or leave a HC job after 1-2 years.

Look at Arnett when he was the DC at Miss St., everything Bobby Petrino’s done, Todd Grantham, etc.

I have a larger issue with shit coaches getting paid absurd amounts for being bad at their job when they are fired.

I've never argued with the basic idea of the NIL.

The issue is the NIL COMBINED with the free transfer windows.

It's just too much.

Yeah, the transfer windows are absurd. I think it’s wrong that some guys can basically peace out weeks before the season starts and go play elsewhere.

Portal should be open at the end of December to the second week of January and then again from sometime in mid-May to early June.

I just feel like any 'commitment' should be 2 years.

If you sign an LOI - you have 2 years in that program then you can transfer. Once you transfer, you have 2 years with THAT program.

This amount of movement isn't good for the sport.

Right. You're talking about dozens of coaches though. We are talking about hundreds, if not thousands, of players.

Also, the flip side of the coach argument is that there's an equal amount of coaches every year that are fired before their contracts are up. There's simply no analog for the players. They're the only ones that have leverage.

Just classify them as employees and have them sign contracts as such. Each contract includes a one-year non-compete clause, which serves the purpose of the old rule where they had to sit. Base salary is equivalent to room and board plus tuition, with bonuses paid from the NIL fund for whatever they can negotiate.

Nwaneri is an interesting case. Maybe his entire intention was to utilize the NIL law to get a bag while still in high school, then leave to his preferred school after year one.

Sounds like Mizzou is trying to make a play, but you do have to wonder why he couldn't crack the two deep rotation for a team who lacked impact rushers.
