MELLINGER: Should The Chiefs Move On From Smith?

Yep, another Alex Smith thread - but a solid and fair read from Sam Mellinger.

Quote:
The only way forward is through brutal honesty and realistic self-evaluation. No sport moves as quickly, or with such little empathy, as the NFL.

Only fools assume what happened in the past will continue to happen in the future, unless that assumption is “the Patriots will win every year from now until armageddon because Bill Belichick is an alien.”

And so it is that this particular group of Chiefs players and executives attempt to solve a puzzle that no group of Chiefs players and executives has solved since 1970, which is so long ago CBS erased the tape to save money:

Get to the Super Bowl.

And it’s hard to believe that will happen without addressing the quarterback situation.

This is not a call for the Chiefs to walk away from Alex Smith, even though this is the first offseason since his arrival in which they could do it without a fatal salary cap hit. This is a call for them to look, to try, to make sure they don’t have access to a better option — whether that’s Tony Romo in a trade, Deshaun Watson in the draft (which would almost certainly require a trade up), or anything else.

You know that's a lie, and yet you both insist on being unprovoked dickbags about it.

Austin would best be served by getting what he can out of the servers and hardware before this shithole it a total ghost town.

While true to an extent, I think baby Lee and splatbass at least bring some substance to their opinions, even though I disagree a considerable account. They both have high horses, but we all saddle up now and again. I know I do.

In the end I don't mind different opinions no matter the reason as long as an effort is made to back it up and I think both do that. This place would bore me if we agreed all the time.

Thats true to an extent but they are still arguing that water is not wet 4 years later. Seems silly... probably nearly as silly as the rest of us wasting our time creating the paint by number picture demonstrating the wetness of said water.

looking at the drive chart from the steelers game, smith didnt win the game by taking the team on his shoulders, but he didn't lose the game either

1st drive td..offense looke sharp

2nd drive punt...chiefs fall into 3rd & 16 after 2 penalties (morse hold, tardif illegal man downfield

3rd drive smith is picked...he sees the one on one coverage and is going to go deep...reid in and whiffs on dupree who hits smith as he throws...if reid makes the block....

4th drive run, run incomplete...smith misses hill breaking free...looks like his fault, probably is, but to be sure you would need to know the play call...ws it designed to go to right where smith moved?

5th drive west fumbles as chiefs are moving towards possible last second field goal...

6th drivebopens with incomplete pass, run for loss of , leading to 3rd and 11...another incomplete pass leads to punt

7th drive chiefs move ball into steelers territory, but on 3rd and 2 there is a delay of game penalty...is his on smith? maybe...but with reid's history of time management woes, I would suspect it may be on him

8th drive, kelce gets the stupid penalty, making it 3rd and 20...smith hits maclin for 20 to keep the drive alive...chiefs have to settle for field goal, after wilson drops pass on 3rd and four which would have extended the drive

9th drive the chiefs get score..smith hits harris for 2 point conversion to tie game but for penalty...from 12 yard line pass to maclin, who is covered by 2 defenders. falls incomplete...did smith have a better option? i dont know

for what it is worth, i don't think ware was the same player sincehe had concussion in colts game...run game was nowhere close to her it was in 2015 during the long win streak..with that type of run game chiefs win...

would certainly welcome some conversation about the above, without name calling or insults...

No, no I do not. "Unprovoked" you say? Now THAT is a lie I am aware of.

And please dispense with the "this place is going to hell/boo-hoo"-narrative. Chiefs Planet, much like the Chiefs themselves, is the same as it ever was.

Agreed, though I would argue that Threebag and Splatbass are running short on substance, at least in comparison to Lee.

And finally, I never counter a post of theirs with "you're ruining the board/OMG the apocalypse of CP is at hand(!)", I simply disagree and chalk it up to not everyone is going to share my opinion, and move on.

The only way you can claim provocation is to continue to express butthurt over my reminding the board that you publicly, expressly, and without prompting announced your revocation of fandom and disclaimed any authority to counsel others on their fandom.

And while you might not counter dissent from your opinion with apocalypse talk, you're pretty graphic and generous with the 'shove it up the ass of my enemies and pump away until ejaculation' talk.

So yeah, 'all who disagree with me will receive forcible ass rape,' same as it ever was.

Yep. Smith is too quick to run. I think you can win with Smith, but he will hold a team back in crucial situations.

What's silly is you acting as if their opinions are beyond belief or logic... when your own professional HC, GM, and owner actually pay a hefty sum to agree with those opinions.
