I tried accepting trades for future draft picks on PFN with the idea that I would use them to trade back up where I wanted, but it's really difficult to trade them in a trade-up. I find it difficult to trade up at all on PFN, but it seems like PFN heavily discounts future picks when analyzing trades.

PFN garbage. Traded down in the 4th to pick up a high 7th.

I ran a 7 round mock on PFN with the goal of trading down from #31 and hoping to pick up a couple of picks in the mid/late 2nd round. On PFN I've seen Walter Nolen fall to that area nearly every time, and if not him, then someone like Kenneth Grant.
Trade picks #31 and #133 to New England for picks #38 and #69. 38 - Walter Nolen, DT Trade pick #63 to Carolina for #64 and #146 64 - Elic Ayomanor, WR 66 - TJ Sanders, DT Trade pick #69 and 2026 4th rd pick to New Orleans for #71 and 2026 3rd rd pick 71 - Marcus Mbow, OT 95 - Kevin Winston, S 146 - RJ Harvey, RB 226 - Hunter Wohler, S 251 - Elijah Williams, Edge 257 - Trevor Etienne, RB 2026 - Traded away 4th rounder and picked up New Orleans 3rd rounder |

IMHO, Walter Nolen is a better pure prospect than Jalen Carter was coming out. Only reason he's getting any knockdowns is character flags. Carter had them, too, and still went #9. Any dream of Nolen going in the 2nd should be lit on fire and doused in antifreeze.
I'll shit myself if he makes it beyond #13 overall. |

I've found a way to manipulate the PFN simulator in trades. When proposing a trade the simulator demands a stiff premium and discounts future picks pretty heavily. When the simulator proposes the trade it assumes the premium should go to me, but it doesn't always offer a nice premium. The underlying assumption about who deserves a premium in the trade is still there though.
Furthermore, if you try to counter-offer on the trade the simulator does not delete the original trade offer when it declines your counter-offer. So, you can make many counter-offers as you slowly step up the amounts until you find something the simulator will accept. Additionally, since the simulator appears to discount future picks pretty heavily, you can make some nice trade-ups in future picks, eg trading a future KC 3rd for the opponent's future 2nd. On top of that it doesn't much mind making trades for future picks in the same round, so when trading with a team that should be worse than the Chiefs, it's easy to add in a KC 1st for their 1st. It looks to me like moving up in next year's draft, but apparently looks to the simulator like a break even deal. ETA - Yeah, swapping picks in the same round appears to be no problem for the simulator. I was able to trade away all of KC's draft picks in 2026 to Seattle and NYG in exchange for theirs. I ended up with only KC's 7th round pick, but I have the Giants picks in the first 6 rounds. It seems like a pretty significant tradeup to me, but the simulator didn't seem to care. Starting to appreciate these more to play with scenarios than worry as much about them probably being way off on rankings. Kudos for adding the ESPN one to the mix. It seems to suck about as much shit as the rest, was hoping it'd be a tad better. But maybe there will be hope for it.
The one I did with that is: 1-31 - Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon 2-63 - Carson Schwesinger, LB, UCLA 3-66 - Jaylin Noel, WR, Iowa State 3-95 - Cam Skattebo, RB, Arizona State 4-133 - Kyle Kennard, DE, South Carolina 7-226 - Dorian Strong, CB, Virginia Tech 7-251 - Shamari Simmons, DB, Arizona State 7-256 - Jay Toia, DT, UCLA |

Gave the ESPN simulator a whirl. I'll say it's not very realistic that the players that were available for me are going to be available when the draft goes down, but I do like the feature that shows the percentage of that player being available at that pick and the odds they'll be available at your next pick.
31) Derick Harmon - DT, Oregon 44% chance of availability 63) TreVeon Henderson - RB, Ohio State 20% chance 66) Jalen Royals - WR, Utah State 75% 95) Logan Brown - OT, Kansas 93% 133) Jalen Reed - S, Penn State 33% 226) Tommi Hill - CB, Nebraska 68% 251) Drew Kendall - C/OG, Boston College 88% 257) Cody Lindenberg - LB, Minnesota <5% |

I ran a 7 round mock on PFN and there's just no getting around some of the odd rankings. I traded down twice into the middle/late 2nd round.
Traded #31 & #257 to 49ers for #43 & #75 Traded #43, #95, & 2026 KC 3rd to Arizona for #47 & #55 47 - Conerly OT 55 - Tuimolau Edge 63 - Treveyon Henderson RB 66 - Alexander DT 75 - Bech WR 133 - Skattebo RB 226 - Ingram-Dawkins DT 251 - Woodson S I wouldn't have taken 2 running backs, but when Skattebo was available at #133 I couldn't pass him up. I figured that a good GM would be able to trade one or the other, or even trade one of our current backs. Last edited by RedinTexas; 04-02-2025 at 12:17 PM.. |

The ESPN simulator is very friendly about trading down one spot. Other teams look at those offers if they're orangutans watching a magic trick. With a little patience, I converted the Chiefs draft into 18 picks, including a bunch of middle rounders. (I can't figure out how to paste the actual draft, but it was an impressive haul.)

I've run all of the mock machines pretty much every year, it's a morning coffee ritual for me post-season. Some years, there seems to be a consensus on players at least in the early rounds as far as maybe within 20 or so spots. This year, they seem to be all over the place. Which of these mock sites tend to be most accurate? |
