When he knows where his movement is going to take the ball, he's really hard to hit.
The biggest problem with King is that everything he throws moves a LOT. And he's not always sure where it's going to end up. Sometimes it spins back into the zone and goes a long way. Sometimes it spins out of the zone and he just starts walking guys. He's a guy who, when he harnesses his stuff, is a borderline CY caliber pitcher. And really, since about the ASB, he's been about as good as the NL has to offer. I saw him stub his toe a bit against the Cardinals in August (one of those days where he just didn't know how his movement was working) but when he has his feel, he's a genuine ace.

You knew when they had the bases loaded with a run in and nobody out, only getting 1 more on a Sac Fly would haunt them.
And when that sac fly happened and Jeremy Pena started celebrating like he'd walked off Game 7, it was all but assured. The baseball gods do not take kindly to that kind of thing.

Side note - good for Detroit. I think they're probably roadkill from here forward (I mean shit fellas, how many bulllpen games can you actually throw? Because you may need FOUR of them...) but it's a heck of a story.
Sure wish they had Flaherty back. He'd be pretty nice for them right about now.
