durtyrute all you had to do was watch Tyler Palko up close in any Training Camp and you would know he should have never gone into a NFL ballgame let alone been on any NFL roster!

2009 - Haley dumbs Gailey as his OC just days before the regular season. Basically just saying "Eh **** it, we're starting over and doing this my way".
That is something that you just can not do in the NFL against the best competition and expect to be somewhat successful. That is putting your own pride and ego in front of the football team's main objective. If he didn't want Gailey then he shouldn't have had him stay on the staff when Haley was hired. 2010 - Playoff game w/ Baltimore Chiefs are down 10-7 at half (at home) and Haley scratches the game plan and strips one of the game's best OC from their playcalling duties. DURING HALFTIME OF A PLAYOFF GAME. Who does that? How can anyone with half of a brain sit there and think that's a good idea? Haley didn't care. His ego was too big and he thought he was God's gift to offense in the NFL. And what happened? Our QB broke down and threw a lot of picks in the 2nd half and we get blown out. 2011 - Haley plays his starters for almost the entire 4th preseason game because he approached training camp like a lost idiot. That's a fireable offense. Had horseshit packages in cruicial 3rd down situations, PLAYING PALKO OVER ORTON. Palko doesn't even belong on an Arena League roster. **** YOU HALEY.....I'm glad he's gone.

If magic rookie X comes in a is total shit for the first two games of his career, I know Palko had played longer, but play along. Would you bench him? What about if magic rookie X, who was drafted in the first round, plays like shit for 12 out of 14 games, would you bench him even though he is your first round savior? |

The roster is his baby. If some asshole is our #2, he gets plenty of blame. Note: some asshole is our #2 this year!

As far as the start of the season. You shouldn't have to teach grown men who get paid millions how to tackle or catch or throw. I blame Haley for some of the shit, but there was enough to get spread around more than some are willing to. Either way, I like RAC and think we can dominate this year. |

Not some of the blame on Pioli. Most of the blame. It would be one thing if Pioli put three capable QBs on the roster and Haley happened to pick Palko over the #3 guy. Pioli didn't do that. And so, we can only speculate that Haley would have picked Palko over a better alternative. Because if you want to argue that Haley was stupid for picking Palko over Croyle or Guttierez, you're barking up a really weird tree.

Nobody is giving "love" to Todd Haley. They are just defending against people like you that exaggerate how bad someone is. Most people who defend Haley, like myself, will say that he did a lot of really good things, did some stupid things, but all in all the team got better under his watch so he didn't deserve to be treated the way he was. And that, quite possibly, with a supportive front office and some time to learn how to coach, he could be a very good football coach. It's a joke to say that the team improved under Crennel, but not acknowledge that the disciplinary culture helped motivate those defensive players to improve. And it's insane to say that the offense sputtered without Haley without once mentioning that maybe losing Jamaal Charles for 2011 might have had a LOT more to do with the offensive struggles and that Weis would have struggled just as mightily. I think he's going to do very well in Pittsburgh. And I think he'll mature into a very good head coach some day under a front office that doesn't micromanage him. |

I think it's rather ridiculous that people would scrutinize what a head coach tries to do to win behind a QB who doesn't belong on an NFL roster, let alone start.
I understand why he may not have wanted to start Stanzi. And no, I don't think you can put most of the blame on Haley for Palko being on the roster because Pioli had every right to at least force Haley's hand to make that decision. He didn't. In fact, it probably is consistent with Bob Gretz's story that Pioli and Hunt were purposefully short-handing Haley so they could find new reasons to fire him. |
