Good point.

And honestly, I've said that a few times about Kelce this year. Sometimes he overheats that help, IMO.

It seems like he's supposed to be providing help to the outside shoulder but he comes in so hot that instead of protecting to the outside, he actually aids the guy getting to the inside.

I mean guys been in the league for over a decade - he is what he is at this point. But it does seem like Kelce does that a fair bit.

We won 2 Super Bowls with a guy we would all very much like to replace. We won another with a guy who really never played again in Damien Williams.

I mean, they don't matter MUCH.

But we do appear to have hit a tipping point with them.

I get all that, but how has our offense looked the past few years while cycling through these JAGs? Pretty unimpressive if we're being perfectly honest. We've been carried by our defense and clutch plays by Pat/Kelce when needed.

Look at the difference a great RB has made in Philly. This offense could get back to new heights if we ever actually invested in that position. We need to change things up a bit on that side of the ball, and getting a dynamic back would go a long way towards doing that. Pat hasn't had a true elite back since Kareem's first time around. It's wearing on him, and I think it's time we give him some support back there.

At the same time, we've gone through those last 2+ seasons with a group of pass catchers that has been various parts disappointing and injured.

It's just hard to say how much of that is because of the RB. The offense looked fantastic for most of 2022 and did it without a premier RB. It just doesn't seem like that's the real lynchpin.

It depends on your team and your win condition.

That Philly team already had a stout OL and continued to invest in it, and it compliments Jalen Hurts dual-threat nature. You throw in a special RB like Barkley in there and it makes too much sense.

Same with Baltimore. They already had a great offense that complimented Lamar's ability to run and throw. Then you add Henry, and the RPO between the freight train that is Derrick Henry and the shifty Lamar Jackson who can throw off play action or run to the edge makes too much sense.

Our win condition is Patrick Mahomes throwing the football. Running the ball in our offense has always been very vanilla, run it between the IOL and get dirty yards to compliment our passing attack. Or we either Jet Sweep to the outside or throw horizontally to a quick guy to grab some easy yards. A dynamic RB would be nice to have, but honestly would be wasted on the kind of offense we like to run. It's why we spend resources the way we do.

Even when we DID decide to road grade it early in the season, it was entirely out of necessity. Losing Hollywood and Rice and Worthy still going through his rookie stuff killed our passing attack. Kelce is great, but he can only do so much when it's just him and no one else. And even when we did focus heavily on the run, it wasn't even good. It was barely enough to get us over the hump. We CAN run the ball a bit, but it's not our win condition. Patrick is.

This is how well Hunt sees the field. Pacheco would have just plowed into the back of an O-lineman

The draft is absolutely the way to go. We need youthful speed that is hungry. Adding that will only help Mahomes and the passing game. We won't change our identity we'll just be better at what we really like to do. Obviously we need to fix out OTs as well.

Adding a better more explosive RB will only help that condition. And of course this RB will be a good receiver as well so he'll be part of the winning condition.

Andy gave him 3 weeks off and then only got him 8 carries and 1 target vs Houston.

He’s going to unleash this guy on Buffalo. He’ll get us nice carries the way he did the first game in Buffalo when he had 14/60 with 4.3 YPC.

I don't disagree with that, usually it doesn't matter as long as they're a good football player, they'll help you win.

But imagine Derrick Henry in this offense. He needs to be fed the ball 20-30 times to get the most use out of him. Are we really going to take the ball out of Mahomes hands 20-30 times a game? It doesn't work with us, not nearly as well as it does with other teams.

Chiefs could have had James Cook over Skyy Moore. 😂

But almost anyone would have been better than Skyy

Henry is not a fit for this offense so I wouldn't even go there.
