*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Colquitt will be a FA and he's likely gone. The only other major FAs that we'll have to deal with will be Bennie Logan, Dee Ford and Terrance Mitchell. Those obviously could turn from major to minor depending on the production.

Cutting all of those players above will give us an additional $49 million in cap space (not including Maclin)
Wouldn't be surprised to see Dorsey try to swing some trades either to recoup some draft ammo. If Mahomes is ready and Smith doesn't bomb this year against one of the toughest schedules in the league, you might get someone like Washington (if Cousins walks), JVille (if Bortles bombs), the Jets, the Bills, or the Cards (Palmer might be near done and Arians wanted Smith last time he was on the market) to bite on a trade while they groom/figure out who their next QBOTF is.

Also with no first rounder, I expect them to trim some fat and look to be active on the FA market to fill some holes...

The ideal realistic situation for 2PM has to be sitting for one year. Give him this one year to learn the pro game, the Reid offense, just to really see how it is all supposed to be done. Then... let him loose in '18.

Because lets be honest, once the kid knows what he is doing within the offense, sitting him is nothing more than wasted time and opportunity. Guys like Carr, Mariota, Winston... all weren't necessarily 'ready' to play day one but they did because they weren't quite as raw as PM2, or they didn't have a steady starter in front of them. It didn't bother them, they are clearly going in the right direction.

No way it should take more than one season before he plays IMO. 2017: Learn off the field, 2018: Learn on the field.

I don't know why people have been arguing with this. If Smith is still in great shape , continues to win and is productive like 2015 or better then there's no way you don't restructure him so you have him around one more year with potential to get dethroned that season if things go south.

We don't need a dangling turd. Time to move on. Smith has this season to do anything and he is gone.

His whopping 15TD 8 INT 2016 wont be missed.

Are we really going to go over this again? The ESPN guys alluded to Mahomes taking over the job in '18, primarily.

No one cares if Alex Smith is in shape or if he can throw 18 TDs again. When Mahomes is ready, he is playing, because he is the more talented player.

Don't give me a Christmas present and then tell me I can't open it for a year. I am tired of hearing this sit for a year shit...and learn what? This ain't 1970. You learn from PLAYING! He is on a good team ready to win, he would be fine. Where is Tanya Harding and Co. when you need them?

Just let one time in preseason have Patrick Mahomes II drop back and chuck it deep to Tyreek streak down field for a touchdown and the coaches on the sidelines will have to cover their hard ons.

Alex Smith was the #1 overall pick coming out of college after an extraordinary season, are you saying Mahomes accomplished more yet he fell to #10? You are judging this kid on arm talent and miss the big picture here, he's a reckless player who played in a terrible conference. I could care less about the comparisons to Favre. Give me Brady, Wilson, Montana, or Rodgers comparisons from coaches and you have my attention. Minimum and I mean minimum of a year on the bench if you want any chance of him being successful.
