Acting like any OT we draft would need years of development to even be playable is a bit weird.
The last 3 players aren’t LT’s. We need a LT

Taylor isn't just screaming up the arc and camping. Even in the Mahomes GIF thread, you see about half his sets deep but almost always square to the rusher (i.e. the rusher went up the arc, Taylor went with him) or maybe a stride off Smith.

Which is, y'know, a pocket. That's how OTs play. They give ground to lose slowly. Then occasionally you'll see obvious RPO blocking where they form that wall in case Mahomes hands the ball off, but those are quick throws and the blocking set doesn't matter as much.

Taylor doesn't set overly deep from what I can see. He's setting the pocket almost exactly where you'd want to set it for a shotgun offense. Yes, it's deeper than some teams will set their pockets (i.e. the Ravens) but that's because that's how our offense operates. Mahomes isn't coming from under center.

You can argue that he's early out of his stance sometimes and by reacting rather than reacting, sometimes he gives up his inside shoulder, but to connect that to Smith getting beat is an awfully tenuous connection. When that happens, we can see it and KNOW it's Taylor giving it up. And to say "Well Smith is aware that COULD happen and so he's watching his outside shoulder and it's making him lose on the inside..." Oh c'mon - that's a bridge too far. That's some person in an interview saying "My biggest flaw is that I work too hard and care too much..."

No, Smith is not getting beat because he's worried about the occasional instance of Taylor getting beat inside. That just doesn't make any sense. And to act like it's happening play in, play out and is clearly the CAUSE of Smith's struggles - I'm sorry, but that's just excuse making.
I don't think it's Taylor's fault when Ed Oliver just forklifts Smith into the backfield, but I do think he is deep and the early move does mean he gives up the inside shoulder and makes Smith's life difficult.

I dunno man, he's costing us 20m, he's the guy I want to see adapt and even if he's not Schwartz, he's paid like he is.

Is there a good reason Stanley only got a year's extension at what looks like a pretty cheap deal? Injuries? Seems unlikely they'd want to move on from him but I really wouldn't mind him landing here for a year or 2.

Ronnie Stanley? The guy who got hurt, Orlando Brown filled in admirably, then they traded OBJ? He hasn’t played a full season since. Good friend of mine is a ravens fan and constantly talking about how Stanley’s their worst contract. The last 5 years he’s played 6,1,11,13 and 13 games.

I mean we have ZERO speed to test him against (and those are the guys that really give him fits). And even someone like Danna doesn't have advanced technique - he's a motor guy. Hell, what little bit of bend/explosion we had at DE almost died on the field. He looked credible against Malik Herring and Mike Danna.

The staff's confidence in him was almost certainly misplaced due to really poor competition opposite of him. I just can't see any other viable explanation.
Maybe a side benefit to signing Uche can be helping to develop Kingsley?

Unfortunately a lot of truth here and you can see it in our true edge stats. it does seem puzzling that they would still leave a rookie out on an island that much and then wonder why he he struggles. Alt gets all kinds of help in Harbaugh's offense. Granted Alt is playing strong side, but we could have protected Kingsley better.

It seems to me LT is a lot like drafting QBs, you take a risk in just throwing them out there and expecting immediate success and if you do you probably need to simplify things so they can learn and figure out things with experience.

I think there's a fairly good chance DJ looks really good for at least the first few weeks.

Big man has fresh legs. He hasn't taken any bumps and bruises yet. Similarly might be why Omenihu was able to make an instant impact.

The key is getting him through the gauntlet, however many games it may be. BYE would be immensely helpful.

That bye looks more and more important by the week. And we feel more and more likely to piss it away by the week lol.

We're gonna get it done my guy.

I'd bet Kelce or Mahomes or Jones have already told the guys, win these next four and we have two weeks off. They're smart, they know the grind now will be worth it later. That on top of the fact that they are wanting to start hitting their stride ahead of yoffs.

DJ will help make it a reality, or even if Thuney has to play LT for another week.

The offense has been trending up and that can overcome all the defensive shortcomings. Even with the defensive regression were better than several previous defenses. Hopefully Williams gets us back to at least a bend but don't break instead of the WTF another explosive play D that we've been.

Slow down fellas. He’s gonna struggle against Myles Garrett. Everybody does.
That guy is the best pass rusher in the league. Man is a goddamn alien.

Expecting a guy coming back from an injury to look good against him right off the bat is expecting a bit too much IMO
