*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

That’s exactly what we want to see from Pat. We are all sick and tired of conservative QB play.

Chris Conley is a 6’2” WR with 33.75 inch arms and has the highest vertical leap in a decade of any player at the combine. The only receiver who can go as high as him in the air to high point the ball is Julio Jones.

This guy was made to have the ball highpointed and chucked to him and Alex never threw fades and rarely threw contested balls!

We are all going to see Mahomes play exactly like Watson this year and it’s going to be awesome. Bring on the aggressive mentality.

I think both have the opportunity to be great.

I can't wait for this season...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I thought Watson would be average, he looks like he could be really good.

I still like Mahomes skill set much better.

Yeah man, 100% same with me.

I wasn't really high on Watson. I still think the film may catch up to him, but you can't argue against his effectiveness last season when he was in there.

I admit I was very down on Watson and was blown away by what he was able to do as a rookie. Having said that, my memory does indeed go back to RG3, who I thought was going to be Mike Vick with a brain.

I loved RG3, and watched as he was systematically dismantled by NFL defenses. It started with punishing him for running and then it broke him down mentally.

The thing that I notice about Watson in those highlights is that he keeps his eyes downfield and he is very decisive with the ball. When he sees the receiver he wants, he lets it fly. I think that Watson could be special, but if injuries pile up (and they are) it could derail an otherwise awesome career. This year is going to be huge for him. Will defenses figure him out or not?

The only thing that I know is watching those highlights made me feel cold. Sunday mornings. Bloody Mary's. Breakfast nachos. I seriously just started jonesing for fall, and it's not even summer.

Another thing about Smith..he has to set his feet/step into throws to get velocity/distance on them. So even if he sees Hill breaking free, if a defender is closing, he doesn't have time to reset his mechanics.

Mahomes can get the ball down the field while in motion due to super-natural arm strength...and be accurate.

Smith couldn't make the same plays in those videos...he would get sacked or throw it away.

Smith tucking it and running the moment his 1st/2nd read was covered... cost KC some big plays.

You bring up a good point- which team that we play this year has this.

2 Great CB's to shut down Hill and Watkins. A Great safety that will shut down Kelce and a Great LB corp that can shut down Hunt in both the running and passing game- oh and another Great CB that can shut down whoever will be running slant routes out of the slot. And a great pass rush that can shut down Mahomes from running or finding any other options when all of his main weapons are covered??

Hope not. If he does, that's because we're a shitty team constantly in shootouts. 550ish is enough.
