Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Texans acquired their starting quarterback in free agency this offseason signing former Denver Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler to a 4-year deal worth around $18 million a year with $35M guaranteed. Since that time the narrative out of Denver has mostly been that the Broncos did not want the quarterback that was drafted by the team before the 2012 season. On Tuesday, Benjamin Allbright from 104.7 FM in Denver that the Broncos were ready to match the Texans offer and that Brock just didn’t want to return to Denver. “I know Denver was willing to go $18.5 per (year) and at least put a $35 million guaranteed offer in front of him,” Allbright told Mike Meltser and Seth Payne on Mad Radio on SportsRadio 610 Tuesday morning. “The plan was to keep Brock Osweiler,” Allbright said of the Broncos plan going into the off-season. “The Broncos came with an offer they thought was fair, you know how the Broncos like to low ball people a bit, Brock just wasn’t having it. After a while, he stopped taking phone calls from the Denver Broncos. “The Broncos weren’t just folding up shop. They wanted Brock. They just couldn’t through on the phone to make that $18.5 million offer they were going to make.” The Broncos were mildly shocked by the development of Osweiler’s angst, partially because Osweiler roomed with General Manager John Elway’s son in college and had lived with the Elway family for a little while after he was drafted. But one moment on the field changed any good feelings for Osweiler. “Brock Osweiler[…]was unhappy with the situation with the Broncos after he got yanked after CJ Anderson fumbled the football. He felt like it wasn’t his fault. Like he was progressing the football well.” “It was the impetuous to see what else was out there,” Allbright said of the moment when Osweiler was benched in week 17 against the San Diego Chargers. “The Texans certainly had their eye on Osweiler for a while. [Osweiler felt] like [the Texans] are a team that wants him, wants him to be the man and he wants that. He wants a team that wants to invest in him and make him the guy and the Texans certainly did that.” Allbright also pointed out that the lengthy process of Peyton Manning retiring or not, did not help the Broncos to retain Osweiller. Osweiler did not attend the visit to the White House with the other Denver Broncos players who won a Super Bowl in 2015. The Texans will face the Broncos in week 7 on Monday night in Denver. |

Benjamin Allbright is probably the least credible person in sports media. I know he's the least credible person in Denver media.

You act like he was the only one who reported that Brock stopped taking calls from Elway in the middle of negotiations.
Everybody reported it. Because it happened. I'll be honest though, I think Romo will go to Devner and have 2 really good years. It's gonna be a tough division. |

Allbright also tried to make up a rumor before the 2015 season that the Broncos were trying to trade Peyton to the Texans...

Gonna be hilarious to see Elway try to rebuild his OL with shitty draft picks and FA signings that don't work out and end up getting Romo killed and Paxton shell shocked.
