We won a lottery this year. What was done this season is completely unsustainable. To continue to do so will only serve to shorten Mahomes' career.

Good enough to bandaid for now, but we can’t pay that much to a guy like Mvs for this kind of inconsistency.

We’re making it work by giving kelce and rice an insane amount of targets. But we still have instances in every game where you can see how badly we want to take a little bit of the top of the defense to mixed results. And how we probably need to be able to do more out of 11 personnel. Or how our offense looks sluggish when we are asked to deliberately funnel targets to Watson or Mvs. a team like this should not have multiple WRs on the field we’re literally afraid to throw to. Look, we made a mistake with one position group. We look very well positioned to work around it. I trust it’s not a mistake veach will make again, given his track record.

I don’t want to dwell on the negative because I’m focused on winning with this group and I know we will. We will win with this group, despite their limitations, and next year when veach knocks it out of the park with offense upgrades we’ll be amazed at how much we forgot about this offenses ceiling.
Your problem is expecting it to be the 2018 Chiefs offense. Had we gotten playoff Pat all year (like we did last year) it's probably a repeat of last year. But that's just not gonna be possible, because ****, it was the best season a QB has ever played.

You've dwelled on it all year. They aren't gonna have multiple options where they are just throwing it around etc. Get 3 good options, feed them the ball, move on.

I agree, but the point being is each year you are going to have a glaring weakness somewhere. Next year it will probably be DT or LT, if we go all in on WRs.

That is an understatement.

Skyy Moore probably isn't even an NFL player...Toney should be, he at the very least is a very good returner but he can't stay healthy and has serious issues with not being a ****tard.

That is what is so exciting about this team going forward. It's such an easy thing to correct. You simply replace those two with good WR's and we are going to fly.

I have said many times we will never be the 2018 offense again. Probably. It isn’t about that.

Don’t overthink it. The early season struggles are primarily on our WRs. It is not on mahomes as much as some want to make it to be. Our adjustment has been to relegate 3 of these guys to be practically inactive and to hide the 2 guys on the field to mostly run cardio. Nobody is saying go get 3 Justin Jeffersons. But at the bare minimum there’s no excuse not to have a few WRs who at the bare minimum are rosterable.

What we are doing now is good enough. And that’s fine with an elite defense. but the ceiling for our offense is so so much higher and all it needs at bare minimum is not having replacement level talent at important attack positions

I don’t think it has to be as limiting as we think. Rice makes our options way easier. Yeah, just like we’ll never go back to the 2018 offense we probably won’t have a defense as dominant as the 2023 version again either. But that’s ok. Just need a year of offense rebuild with TLC in the draft and I don’t think we need to be as stingy as some think in terms of protecting the cap.

We still have a future HOF TE and Rice turned into a legitimate WR by the post season.

If you have the #1 or #2 defense, a bunch of JAG WRs ought to be enough if combined with a really good OL and RB.

But without the D or a shaky ground game, and Kelce getting older...

Been sayin' all season - keep firing.

They WILL regress to to the mean. Over large numbers, they'll play to the back of their baseball card.

Keep running the offense. Keep slingin' it.

Yeah I mentioned that earlier, and that's when you need your coaches and the QB to paper over those cracks. Which they have, because Reid and Mahomes are the most significant parts of the puzzle. If you had to lose one of Mahomes, Reid or Veach, you're losing Veach, right?

Anyway, given this is coming off as a little more anti-Veach than I intended...and we are, you know, in another SB, I'll can it from now. I'll start complaining again when he doesn't pick my random draft crush.
