Mahomes has a 2-8 record when he has to hold the ball 3.3 seconds. Philly is pretty good at covering the quick routes. I trust Andy to find the chinks in their armor and exploit it.

From the article

Kansas City has a 2-8 record in the 10 games when Mahomes held onto the ball longest on average. As the chart below shows, Mahomes' game-level production, measured by EPA per play, declines as his game-level average time to throw increases, per TruMedia.

To envision Mahomes struggling is to picture him unable to find open receivers quickly. Pressure mounting, Mahomes holds onto the ball longer. He scrambles and finally takes a sack, throws incomplete or throws for a short gain.

Tampa Bay accomplished this against Mahomes in the Super Bowl after the 2020 season. Denver did it against Mahomes in Week 8 of 2023. The Raiders beat him twice this way, in Week 5 of 2020 and Week 16 of 2023. Those four games and the 2018 AFC title game against New England produced Mahomes' five longest time-to-throw (or sack) games. Kansas City lost all five.

Opponents have pressured Mahomes on 34 percent of pass plays in his career. The Eagles pressured him at a 37 percent clip when they faced Kansas City in the Super Bowl two seasons ago, but as the table below shows, Mahomes' average time to throw or sack in that game — 2.69 seconds — was the second-fastest of his career in the playoffs. It was the 19th-fastest for all of his games. Kansas City has a 30-1 record when Mahomes' average time to throw or sack is less than 2.79 seconds.

CHRIS SIMMS TALKING TO AN EAGLES SPORTS GUY. I've heard guys hype up teams before. But that was next level glazing. It's not surprising because Simms has hated on the Chiefs all season and picked Cinci, Ravens and Buffalo all to go to the superbowl above the Chiefs. And since he's been proven wrong he's doubling down.

That’s a bunch of absolute nonsense … that will be forgotten as soon as KC wins

The glazing was unbelievable tbh and the Eagles guy was there lapping it all up and acting like his team are far superior to KC. We've heard this all before and the disrespect and jealousy just continues to flow. If Simms is right then why weren't the Eagles the number one seed and why did they have three loses? Smh.

1. Don’t turn over the ball
2. Block it up on the OL
3. Don’t let Saquon dominate
4. Get into situations where you can pressure Hurts

^ if those 4 things happen, KC can build an early two-score lead, and I’m not sure the Eagles and Hurts are built to really overcome that.

This. But if I did need to pick a team with the higher confidence level, I think maybe…..just maybe…..I might be inclined to pick the team who has won back to back Super Bowls, had the best record in the league this season, and has the best HC and QB in the league. Call me crazy.

The elephant that Spags is well aware of is every set of downs starts at 1st-and-8, because of the ease in which they execute the tush push.

He's going to force the issue I believe and make it where they'll either execute their asses off like SB57 and earn a bunch of yards, or we might just totally shut their shit down.

Yeah. And can they make the tush push work with Jurgens and Dickerson so compromised, against the Chiefs front?

Maybe the week of rest is enough to get those guys cleared, but backs and knees usually take a tad bit more time to really heal…

I wonder what the vibe of the team is. This next 60 minutes has been the moment they’ve thought about since they were handed the trophy last year. Make history. Gotta think it’s close to what the Pats were feeling leading up the the Giants SB to complete the undefeated season.

Wonder if they’re loose mentally preparing like it’s any other playoff game they’ve won, or is the pressure higher because of the implications of the next 60 minutes? Obviously we’ve got the best coaching staff in the league, but pretty sure the Pats did too.

I think it’s gonna be like every other game we’ve played for almost 2 years. Keep it close, and hope that Mahomes gets the ball last. If it comes to that, then it’s game over!

I’m not going to say they’re immune to the pressure, but the leaders of this team have so much experience with this moment. They failed at a repeat attempt. They succeeded at a repeat attempt.

The coaching staff is the same. They know how to prep the team to lock in and play well. The team knows how to handle the pressure and perform through it.

I can’t see the pressure of a three-peat being noticeably different.

Those are some really bad takes by him. I am pretty surprised because I thought he was a big Mahomes/Reid/Chiefs fan. Granted I never watch him, so that could be why I was unaware.

Some thoughts:

1. While Philly has added some nice pieces to their team, so has KC. Anyone looking at this roster from top to bottom and thinks it’s worse than two years ago is simply biased. I mean who are the big losses (if you want to call it that) from the 2022 team? Brown Jr? Wylie? Gay? McKinnon? Clark?

2. KC has a huge coaching advantage.

Andy vs Sirianni = Andy and it’s not particularly close.

Nagy (basically Reid) vs Moore = Nagy (because of Reid) and it’s not close.

Spags vs Fangio = Spags easily. Taking nothing away from Fangio, but if the NFL ever started considering coordinators for the HOF, Spags would be first ballot. He’s one of the best to ever do it.

Toub vs. Clay = I am leaning Toub because of how good our special teams have been under him for a long time. He gets hate on here, but he’s a really good ST coach.

3. I said it last year before the playoffs and I am sticking to it. Give me the team with the most experience in the playoffs every time until someone knocks them off. That experience has been crucial during this three year run. They are never fazed by what’s going on and believe they can/will win every game. That can be intimidating to other teams.

Yeah, it's hard to fathom... Mahomes has talked about having a "Super Bowl routine" and him & Kelce haven't shown postseason jitters for several years now (it was 100% definitely a thing for a couple seasons).

One thing I find interesting and impressive is how they plug in guys who also seem immune to it... Toney and Moore have even made huge plays on the biggest stages.

And as a fan, I still think about how that impacts those guys, because I know I'll be stressing the **** out in the 4th quarter, yet it just... doesn't.

I should have put some money on the two teams making the Super Bowl because for a while now I've thought Eagles/Chiefs... everyone was marking down the Lions in permanent marker, but nah, with the 49ers out and Eagles rolling again, give me the one team in the NFC that has been there/done that (of course with some risk from melting down the previously season).

Playoff/SB experience just isn't talked about when all the flavors of the week are discussed over the course of the regular season, along with low-adversity games being the worst thing you can look at to determining who will do well in the playoffs. The Eagles and Chiefs have seen some shit.

Belichick was a fool in SB 42. He tired the Pats out in practice during SB week and they came out flat in the biggest game in NFL history. If the Chiefs are loose throughout the week, they should be alright. If they are uptight because history is staring directly at them, then it could be a long night.

IMO the only way the Eagles are going to win this is if they keep Pat off the field. This game will be won based on the chess match between Spags and Moore. The offense will get its points if they are on the field, but if the Eagles are getting 7-8 minute drives it's not a good sign.
