Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Ah yes, the Baylor no look pass. That video clip doesn't do it justice. If you watch a less pixelated version you can see that he truly is looking at another receiver when he makes that throw.

He absolutely shredded Baylor.

You were right there, every step of the way, shitting on everything they did, and no amount of Pawnmower revisionist history about how you were all politely and patiently waiting for a new era will erase it.

I get it, you feel bad for being an asshole about the team for so long. You feel bad that you made every fan who didn't hate the team with every fiber of their being feel like a lesser fan for 'not having higher standards.'

So now all the talk about 'anything short of a SB is a FAILURE, END OF STORY' is out the window, and everyone needs to get on board with 'just enjoy the optimism, even if it's just daydreamin'

But you don't get to make the rules. Or, more precisely, you made the rules, so now you have to live with them.

I'm gonna enjoy the team. I'm gonna enjoy Mahomes on the team. If I don't enjoy the product, I'll have the good graces to walk away, or at least step back. Lord knows I hated the years from Herm through Cassel, right up to Reid, Dorsey and Alex without being a perpetual **** about it.

But I'm not going to let people just walk away from the standards they set up as the only acceptable standards for fandom, just because they finally got the ONLY THING they ever really cared about, no matter how they gussied it up with demanding results in the form of championships.

Your choice to be an asshole to your fellow fans.

And FTR, I don't create daydream scenarios out of thin air. At worst I'm pushing people to stand behind the scenarios they're hinting at or flatly stating themselves. Point me to anything I've said about the team that no one else has said before me.

Tell me honestly that, were it anyone but Mahomes at QB, you'd be on board with 'we might beat everyone, or we might hope to be competitive in a few years, maybe. Heck it might all go to crap, . . . but at least we'll have fun watching.' I expect great things of Mahomes. I was on board with him earlier than most. But I also know every QB needs a TEAM to win a championship. And I'm a little dumbfounded, and more than a little pissed, at this new standard of 'hey, we might make Sportscenter every once in a while' that seems to be the new normal, simply because for a lot of people ALL THEY EVER REALLY WANTED was to draft a QB, after they browbeat other fans for their shitty fandom.
When did I say I wasn't shitting on the Chiefs for years? Of course I did. That's not the ****ing point. You completely misunderstood my post.

You roasted Clay for being negative about the Chiefs when he could have just been enjoying the season. And now that we have the QB we need, YOU are being equally as critical all because "Boo hoo, we might take a step back in 2018!" Essentially, you are also being Clay just because you think people are getting TOO excited about something that's pretty damn exciting for a franchise.

This year is important. It's an important risk the team is taking. I'm glad we FINALLY freaking took that risk instead of playing it safe every year and never going anywhere.

You're really going to focus on team football this year? That's your thing? If the team doesn't do well for just this one year in spite of whatever growth and progress we see Mahomes make, you're not going to be happy?

That's just an idiotic mindset.

Uhhh... no. Actually, not at all. The team sucked during Pioli. I'm glad I hated on them. This team underachieved with Alex. I'm glad I hated on them. Yes, it wasn't just Alex. I hated on plenty of Reid decisions. Dorsey decisions. I was there roasting Philip Gaines and Kendrick Lewis and Frank Zombo and Demetrius Harris and Mike McGlynn with the rest of them.

What is wrong with me simply saying, "I'm glad Alex Smith is gone, because our QB has the potential to be way better? Better QBs are a necessary risk teams need to take if they want to win Super Bowls." Why does everything have to be about THE TEAM!!!!

Yes, we ****ing get it. The team needs to play better. We know Reid is still here and he'll still pull a bunch of bullshit. Let's try to focus on one thing at a time, shall we? We tried it the other way where we replaced everything 2-3 times over except for the QB. We did that for MANY years. Decades, even. Now we're trying it this way. We'll have to build up the team around Mahomes. That will take time.

Just be ****ing patient. Christ.

Absolute load of HORSE SHIT.

First off, Clay and his minions weren't simply critical. They were abusive trolls who not only predicted doom, but downplayed success, and badmouthed achievements.

Second, the mantra has been that the QB change is the ONLY thing holding us back.

I'm not critical of Mahomes. That's different from being critical of people who have unrealistic expectations of anyone in a competitive endeavor. That is criticizing unrealistic fans, not the player.

Just admit it, the QB draft was the prize you wanted. The expectations of a championship was just the strategy you tried to employ to shame people into agreeing with you.

And if the CHIEFS do take a step back, I will assess that development under different metrics than I judge the fans who insisted that this ONE move was a no-brainer fast track to league dominance. As a fan, I'm not going to hold the franchise responsible for the shitty behavior and opinions of the fanbase.

Drafting Mahomes was the right thing to do. I hope the rest of the franchise decisions are as sound. Most importantly, I'll keep my assessment of their efforts as a professional organization separate from the shit that goes on here, just as I have in the past. Just like I kept their personnel and philosophical decisions of the past 5 years separate from the failures of previous regimes.

*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

Mahomes first game as a true freshman.

He enters the game after Davis Webb gets hurt in the 4th quarter.

Start watching from around the 2 hour & 10 minute mark to see him.

FYI: Tyreek Hill plays in this game too.

Any chance you can take this nonsense the **** out of the Mahomes thread? You may think people want to read this, but nobody does.

Thanks in advance.
