Once the early 2nd round run on RBs was complete, there wasn't really a RB left in the draft you could take and project as a 3-down guy. At that point you were choosing between 3rd-down types who might have some flexibility/future use as true runners (Tuten, Smith, Etienne) and more 1-2 down guys who would have to develop more as receivers (Martinez, Giddens).

I'm fine and in fact happy with landing Smith. He has to protect the football and show he can pass protect, but those things are also true of Bhayshul Tuten. If he answers those questions positively, Smith can become one of the better NFL receiving backs quickly. Like, this year quickly.

That will really hurt when Nakobe Dean comes back and is never the same again.

Not sure there was another complete RB that adds a dimension we don’t have once Henderson was picked. Bhayshul was intriguing with the pure speed. But Smith adds the speed/lightning potential and Royal having some Debo Samuel (or Hardman) traits in his game adds a dimension to the running game as well. Plus Badger has plenty of carries in his stats for being a WR. Just looking at his numbers and haven’t watched his highlights. So looking back at things Reid accomplished all that with multiple players. Will be fun to see unfold in camp

Another good point! I overlook that part of things. Plus he’s in a contract year and motivation/heart has never been an issue so chances he rebounds are good.

Brett "Denzel Ward is my Sleeper Superstar" Kollman ridiculed this pick to the point of mockery. This is the same guy who raved about the CEH pick, btw.
Kollman is turning into Generation Z 's Mel Kiper.

Bassa was projected to go on the 4th so he fell by a round.

Dylan Sampson had we stayed at 95 instead of trading up for Nohl Williams.

Williams will be a good CB but we didn't exactly "need" one and Sampson was outstanding.

Sucks he's going to be buried behind Judkins and Ford in Cleveland and waste his talent.

They're gonna have off 40 times he'll play.

That Williams pick was because after him there was a glacier sized cliff at CB for guys that fit the Chiefs. You can plainly see they don't want to ever be stuck with McDuffie outside and guys like Nazeeh and Josh Williams having to play.
